  1. Does that mean @Zatman thinks Gerrard is brilliant
  2. I agree, I never suggested otherwise. I was only replying to a comment. Many people let bias cloud their judgement on here.
  3. If you don't understand the point I will explain. Some people have made up their mind on Gerrard and they do not judge him on what he is doing at Villa. The comment I replied to suggested that if a manager gets 3 wins in a row he will be popular. I was highlighting that Gerrard's popularity would not increase with many on VT, even if he won 3 in a row. The point being that some people have already made up their mind about him and blind themselves to his performance. I hope that helps your understanding of my point.
  4. I am not so sure I agree with that. If Gerrard wins 3 in a row I don't think he will gain new popularity on here.
  5. Yep, that will hurt us but at least it is not coming in till 2025/26 season (90% next year & 80% the following year) so we have a few years to get our revenues up.
  6. It is turnover. All sales are turnover, it is not turnover we can't expect every year obviously, but it is still turnover.
  7. In fairness though, the FFP assessment doesn't have them breaching FFP as they were able to exploit the measures introduced due to Covid to help ease FFP requirements for clubs
  8. I would say we have added 25m/30m to the wage bill of players. But Gerrard is now on 7m+ where Deano was on less than 2m and no doubt Purslow has had a pay rise. Scary numbers
  9. We have spent 49m on transfer fees and more on agent fees and Kamara sign on bonus plus a fairly sizeable increase in wages. That's a lot for a business that had a turnover in their last published accounts of about 180m
  10. It wasn't a dig at you. It was highlighting the over the top reactions to Mings losing the armband. It is similar to when Deano left and we got SG. I do think McGinn is undervalued on here but I am not sure about 50m. I would take 35m if I was offered and in a position to make a decision on it
  11. But validation makes people feel good. And it is very easy to back up ones opinions with hypothetical scenarios and hyperbole. A football forum is a place people can get some validation.
  12. You got to love VT. Since Mings lost the captaincy the majority of the comments on here have been that McGinn is crap and should be dropped, now I read he is worth more than 50m. I think a lot of VT posters would be very qualified for jobs as 'journalists' with HITC
  13. Is it 70m if we refuse to take Maguire and just give them McGinn?
  14. I get the argument that better midfielders will mean we are stronger defensively and as such may not need top class CBs and can get away with what we have. However, this is just a perspective some people have and there is nothing wrong with it. However, regardless what has or has not been already pointed out it is still an opinion and our opinion matters little. It is the opinion of Gerrard et al that counts. If they believe a CB is more important then they should focus on getting a CB. The debate about CM or CB is fine, it also opens the debate about team selection: Emi2 or Phil? Doug, Sanson, McGinn, JJ etc, changes in team selection here can arguably improve our ability to hold on to the ball and thus take pressure off the defenders. All of these are valid opinions. The point of the original post was the use of "i hope the club don't think they’re getting away with that…". I disagree with this, I don't believe our club is managed like that and there is zero evidence to suggest it is.
  15. I know, I am considering him a full defensive midfield no 6 and the talk of a CM on here I am assuming we are referring to a more attacking midfield for a no8 role
  16. That is up to the club to decide. It is an opinion that a CM will add more to the team than a CB. If Gerrard et al believe a CB is more important they should buy a CB and if they believe a CM is more important they should buy a CM. I don't know which they think is more important but the transfers this window suggest they believe it is a CB as they spent 26m on a CB and didn't buy a CM. The management of the club will do what they believe is best for the club.
  17. I am not sure what that means but the injury to Carlos will not change the thought process of whether a new CM is required or not. However, it will have a financial impact and the club need to make a decision whether they funds are available to replace Carlos (short term or long term) and invest further in other areas of the team
  18. And that is why we get left with players we can't get rid of
  19. Maybe he just went to have a laugh at the Blues
  20. Insurance companies will underwrite anything. They just assess the risk and quote a premium, if we are prepared to pay it they will accept it. The likelihood is that the premium would be far to high in respect to our risk.
  21. And even better, he should be well rested too
