  1. You have a fairly decent striker albeit he is ageing now and u have an excellent right back
  2. I disagree, Matty Cashowski is the best defender they have
  3. Is Abdou Diallo from PSG any good, French media is reporting we are looking at him and that he is interested in us. They paid 30m to Dortmund for him and apparently available for about 8m. I don't know the guy at all. Just wondering if anyone actually knows what he is like as opposed to just basing opinion on stats?
  4. I agree that the likelihood is that it will not work out the same. But, I am fully prepared to give SG a chance to try and prove himself this season. I know my example is an extreme one but SAF was probably more hated at the time than SG is at Villa now
  5. We may not be looking for an improvement on what we have. We have lost Carlos and the club said that he will be back this season. To get better than what we have will cost big $$$, maybe we just want a loan to get us through the next few months without investing heavily. Bednarek has PLL experience and would not be too costly a loan and my fit the criteria we have
  6. He didn't fake it. He has his coaching badges and he didn't fake his experience, he was manager of Rangers and Liverpool u23/youth.
  7. I disagree with that analogy. When we hired the programmer we knew and still know that he can code. He has a degree in Computer Science and he has worked as a coder for the last 2 years in a smaller company after doing his internship in a big company. However, we are now asking him to step up and manage a team of programmers in a big company with the knowledge that he hasn't got this experience but we are prepared to give him time to adapt as he was such a talented programmer in the small company. It is not dereliction of duty, it is called taking a calculated risk
  8. I agree with that. My comment is really on the club's ability to do something as opposed to whether the manager would come to us or not
  9. We employed Deano and he successfully got us into the PL. A good appointment and he delivered what we wanted him to deliver. We tried a new manager and we took a risk on a rookie, if he doesn't work out we move on and try again. Nothing wrong with that. Do u think Spurs looked stupid for hiring Nuno for about 2 months. They then went and got one the the sport's elite managers at the top of his career
  10. Maybe Purslow pulled out of the 25m+ Sarr deal to allocate to Poch's wages
  11. Why? I really don't understand why people think this
  12. Our current position is excellent for a new manager or Poch to take over. Loads of quality players, youth coming through, very supportive owners and a playing squad that just about everyone agrees is under performing. Poch or any manager is not going to get a job at a team where the players are not underperforming.
  13. 6 points from 4 is 1.5 ppg. If u offered me that at the start of the season I would happily take it.
  14. I think a win against Hammers would be an excellent result, unfortunately I doubt all will see it like that but I guess that is what creates debate on a football forum. If we all agreed on everything this place would be very boring
  15. It would be 3 wins from 5 if we beat Hammers but I get your point. We are all desperate for a good performance
  16. I suspect West Ham is a Lose Lose for Gerrard on here. We win, and it will be: Hammers are bottom of the league on zero points it is the least we should expect. We lose, and it is Hammers were bottom of the league on zero points and clueless Gerrard loses to them.
  17. But some can't see that regardless of the amount of evidence the sky may not be blue, have u seen the sky at night when there is no sun? Yes, there are some people that didn't want Deano, just like there are people that didn't want SG because of who he was as opposed to managerial ability. Just as the Sky isn't necessarily blue, neither Deano nor Gerrard may be the best managers for Villa. Each side of the debate has valid points to argue. It is not important to push noses further out of joint, it is about getting the best for Villa
  18. I think all fans are saying it and nobody is trying to defend it. However, none of us know what is happening in training or what is being discussed. Is it possible that Gerrard et al are aware of the problem and have agreed a plan to resolve it and are trying to make something happen? We just don't know what is happening, I believe that is the reason that some people may not want SG replaced without giving him more games. People want to see if an improvement is going to happen
  19. Have u tried a cheap bottle of vodka from Aldi? If u can down it all in the space of about 90 mins it should do the trick
  20. I agree Dave, yes it could look worse in 3 games and Gerrard was brought in to presumably be better than Deano and not continue the status quo. Last season SG will have got some credit with CP and NSWE for quickly reversing the slide towards relegation. This was really important and he delivered. Unfortunately, since then there has been very little to cheer about and then we need to take in account that we have invested in players too. I expect SG will be judged on his performance this season and will be given time. But the tolerance levels will be lower due to the lack of improvement last season. SG will have very little credit with DP and NSWE and if it goes wrong I expect the decision to remove him will be swift
  21. @tomsky_11 Again, thx for posting, it is interesting data. If you have all the underlying data behind this would u be so kind as to show a report on a manager's last 10 or 20 or 30 games and let us see the comparison with his successors first 10 or 20 or 30 games. It would be good to see if the new manager was able to improve the ppg from the previous manager's and what timescale it took. Thanks,
  22. Interesting data, thanks for posting. One observation, Gerrard's 6 ppg is more than double my wildest dreams of success, why the hell are people moaning (I think u may have mixed up the headings of First 30 rank and First 30 ppg )
  23. I think all data should be from 1981
  24. 100% agree. Regardless what people think should or should not happen, I just cannot see Gerrard getting sacked after 3 league games with 1 win and a loss in the Carabao Cup, it would be a knee jerk reaction and our owners and CEO are too smart for that. They will give him some time. Absolutely, he is walking on fairly thin ice and he needs to deliver but the hatchet won't be falling until he has had more games or goes on a losing streak
  25. Poch is currently available so we wouldn't need to wait for him. As for Potter, I posted the other day and I don't know why I feel this way, but I think any club would find it difficult to take Potter from Brighton mid season. I think he is the kind of guy that will should loyalty to see out the season.
