  1. I think all the Championship and many teams in the PL will accuse Aston Villa of doing the same as Man City with regard to buying success. And as for Jack regretting leaving us. Not a chance imo.
  2. Sky is reporting that Traore, Bailey and Sanson are ruled out
  3. I disagree with that. Jack gave his all to Villa during his time here. He is a special player and he deserves to play at the highest level. He is 25 years old so probably only got about 6 years left at the top level. He wasn't going to win the silverware he craves or play at the level he craves by staying at Villa. He left and we got 100m for him. We should all be happy and I wish him a very successful career and hope he realises his dreams and he deserves the respect and gratitude of the fans when he returns to Villa Park with City
  4. Yeah, but he still didn't play Tammy when Lukaku was at Juve for the 2nd half of last season
  5. I agree but I do understand some sentimentality towards Tammy after scoring lots of goals for us in the Championship without which we would not have been promoted. Also, he comes across as a nice guys too and appeared to like his time at Villa. Also, he had the chance to leave us in the Jan window and cancel his loan and got to Wolves and he rejected this. He is in credit with fans at Villa Park. But, from a footballing perspective we should be looking for better than Tammy
  6. But Ings was bought to deliver goals in the next 2 to 3 seasons, he is not one for the future and is not a player to develop over time. So the comparison should be a 29 year old Ings versus a 23 year old Tammy.
  7. I agree with that but there is also the potential that Dean may be a more effective manager with Jack gone. At a real basic level, the the Aston Villa plan A tactic was 'Get the ball to Jack'. When Jack was injured we didn't have an alternative and there was nobody. to take on the creative leader role. That plan A is now gone and we need to do something different. This lifts the shackles off Dean and also opens it up for other members of the team to shine. Selling Jack may turn out to be the best thing that happened us
  8. lindgard is proven, and played better than Grealish in the last 6 months of premier league Probably because Jack was injured for 3 months and sitting on his arse playing PlayStation. There is a reason Pep paid 100m for Jack rather than 25m for Lingard. Good chatting, enjoy the weekend
  9. Grealish AEG is better Grealish is a better player than Lingard. Also, Lingard had lots of bad play in his career. He had a good 6 months with Hammers and he is the wrong age. Not a player we want to be buying imo. I am happier to spend the money on Buendia and Bailey
  10. Nice way to compare them. Given a bit of fitness I would say Sanson is better than Hourihane though.
  11. So would I but you are suggesting replacing one of the best centre backs in the Premier League. He is on the verge of becoming a world class CB and will be a 100m+ player in 2 or 3 years. He oozes class and we should be doing all we can to sign him up to a very long contract. He is probably the last player I would sell at Villa. Everyone else should be allowed to go before him
  12. The defending against toon wasn't good as you might think. Massive free run on goal from Wilson who missed Mings not playing the whistle. He makes mistakes like that. Konsa doesn't
  13. Did u see the defending in the 14 clean sheets last season. 2nd only to City I believe. It isn't really sensible to judge a player on one single game. Did u see our defending against the Toon? We kept a clean sheet.
  14. I think that is more of a management weakness than a player weakness tbh. And before people jump on me, I am NOT calling for Dean to be sacked
  15. And he will never be the clinical finisher Ings is. Tammy (although I love the guy for helping us get promoted) needs way too many chances to get on the scoresheet.
  16. I can understand saying Lingard and Tammy instead of Ings and Emi2 although I disagree. I would much prefer to have Ings and Emi. But how can you compare the purchase of Bailey with a back up centre back? Zouma is a defender and would offer nothing to our attacking 5/6 players in a starting 11
  17. Yep, there is some astute wheeling and dealings going on at VP. Ings will have taken Jack's wage and the new lads will be on a fair bit more than Elmo, Taylor and Hourihane but even still, good financial management
  18. What's the difference or are u saying we should have bought him ahead of Bailey, Ings or Buendia?
  19. Of course all our players can be upgraded but are u seriously suggesting we should spend 25m / 30m on a backup CB and that will get us top 6/8? What about DM and left wing?
  20. Wow. The only positions I think we could not do with improving in our first XI are Emi Martinez, Esri Konsa, Watkins and now Ings. Everyone else is upgradable. To consider upgrading Konsa in this window is imo utter madness when the money could be spent so much more effectively. Konsa is a top 4 CB imo
  21. They managed to offload Emi Martinez for about 17m and got Ramsdale in for 24m + 6m addons. Surely you can see exactly where Arsenal are heading and their ambition with their transfers
  22. But if we bought him it would be to displace Konsa. Personally I don't think we should even consider replacing Konsa in the starting 11. Konsa is quality and will be an international player and we will need to improve our league position or he will follow Jack out of VP. Mings is left footed and the right footed Zouma won't displace Mings. Would u really want Zouma in ahead of Konsa?
  23. Zouma scored 5 goals last season. By far the stand out season in his career (while playing for the European Champions), other seasons he was getting the same hit rate or lower than Konsa or Mings. The previous season Kortney Hause scored 1 goal in 7 appearances compared to Zouma's 0 goals in 24 PL appearances
