I agree. But surely the only way to get them more experienced and battle hardened is to give them more game time and not replace them with other players. Purslow has said that our strategy (I am paraphrasing) is not to buy the finished article, it is to buy potential and improve them. If we ditch Nakamba and Luiz now, or others, we are not giving our players the time. to improve or our coaches the time to do their jobs. This season our players will have another year's experience and the strategy is that they will be better than last season
Hammers were close to relegation the previous season. I suspect they were punching above their weight a little last season and may not be as impressive this season
I would expect that a lot of our recent signings will improve: Cash, Konsa, Luiz, Traore, Sanson and Nakamba. It is fairly normal for players to get better as they get a little older and more experienced
Do you honestly believe the owners were not aware of what it would take to get to he Champions League and that they made a mistake. Edens experience alone would give them a huge indication of what is required to be successful with a sports club.
Have we, with the exception of maybe Ings I don’t think we have signed anyone who any fan can honestly say they were truly excited by
It depends what we mean by exciting. If we are looking at what it was like when we signed the player then Wes, Doug, Buendia, Bailey, Ings, Ollie, Mings, Martinez were all exciting transfers. If we look at how the player has worked out the Konsa is surely an exciting signing
I disagree with all of that. If they are just looking at numbers they can see we just sold one player for 100m. They are investing massive amounts of money into our infrastructure and the future of Aston Villa. We spent 95m on players this season. It is reasonable to assume they came into English football with their eyes open. They are bright lads and selling one player is not going to derail their strategy
Did they, pretty sure Purslow said they didn’t expect anyone to meet the clause. Either way someone’s lying
I think that is also known as managing the messaging to the fans
I doubt the owners would have the ability to make that judgement and nor would they attempt to. They will give CP his objectives and he needs to manage their expectations and tell them if the squad is good enough or not and if not how much money to fill the gaps. If objectives are set and not met then someone on the chain gets the sack
They are very good at selling players. Always seem to get top dollar for their rejects so I imagine a good player would not be for sale or they would want outrageous money
I expect that next season he will be part of the 1st team squad and making appearances on the left. Depending on his development he could make the position his next season. If not, I expect him to be a regular the following season
