  1. But the product of the business is sport. The better the sport and more successful the sport the more money the business makes. Each place u finish higher up the PL table u get an extra 3m quid or so. The further u get in cups the more money u get, the more gate receipts and the more TV money. The more successful the higher the value of sponsorship deals and the more commercial revenue u make.
  2. It is a business, its product is sport and its main revenue models are selling broadcasting rights, advertising / sponsorship, player sales and match day revenues.
  3. Where is that from? See my comment above with link to the UEFA rules book showing the clauses that specifically allow youth dev and infrastructure as exemptions for calculations
  4. Directly from UEFA rules for Financial Sustainability 2022. Youth dev and infrastructure is still allowable for FFP/P&S/Sustainability calculations https://editorial.uefa.com/resources/0274-14dc03ef33b9-3e2caa872860-1000/20220408_club_licensing_and_financial_sustainability_regulations_2022-en.pdf
  5. There is no way that is true. Infrastructure can't be included in P&L, there will be caveats otherwise clubs would not be able to build new stadium. I smell some clickbait reporting with this
  6. I don't think the performances will impact Gerrard too much in the next 6 games. Yes, if we have 5 or 6 losses it would but I think fans are wide of the marking think SG is for the chop soon. In the next 6 games I think 7 points will be reasonably comfortable for him. That is losses to City and Arsenal and W2D1L1 from the the other 4. The owners and CP will be monitoring SG but I think we will need a catastrophically bad run of losses for SG to be fired before the WC break
  7. My Gas & Elec went up about 25% in May due to the war in Ukraine impacting the supply and thus cost of gas. However, my standing charge also went up 25% which is a complete rip off
  8. And in Ireland the constant topic in the media is how much we are getting ripped off and the government must step in and do something to reduce the price. It does seem crazy that a smaller country with much fewer economies of scale has electricity rate about half that of the UK. That is not 'just' market forces, there is profit gouging going on there too
  9. Its a help but not exactly going to break the bank of Centrica as they made a profit of 1.3 Billion for the 1st 6 months of 2022. British Gas is a retail network of Centrica
  10. In Ireland, I am paying 0.24 Euro between 8am and 11pm and 0.12 between 11pm and 8am. That is the total charge with VAT etc. My standing charge is 169.40 Euro a year.
  11. I think there will be fewer managerial sackings at the earlier stage of this season. I think clubs liked to get the new manager in for the international break in Oct. But with the WC break kicking in on the weekend of Nov 12th it makes that an ideal time to bring in a new manager as he will have about 7 weeks with the squad. I think this will give managers an extra few weeks to save their skin. Sackings to kick in around the start of Nov imo with new managers coming in as the WC kicks off (Note: Watford is not included in that thought process)
  12. Yippee, I will take 6th place finish for the next few years
  13. There is no need to worry, we have only played 3 games. There is lots of time to allow Gerrard to screw up and we can still sack him and still be comfortably safe this season. Our playing squad is easily good enough to stay in the PL. If we end up sacking we have the excitement of a new manager coming in and if we don't sack him it will because he has turned it around and we see improvement. The future is bright
  14. I think we are all in the same boat, we want to see a good Villa performance or at least see a trend in the right direction of a good performance
  15. With the financials in lower league football and coming out of Covid the Cups are a lifeline for lower league clubs. Getting a full crowd at the games and getting on TV against a PL side is what the clubs dream about. It is a massive day for the clubs and their fans.
  16. In relation to the game against Bolton we all know the follow facts: 1. Bolton is a league 1 side 2. We scored a penalty 3. We scored directly from a corner kick 4. We went 1-0 down 5. We won the game 4-1 If we want to discuss Gerrard's approach to the game etc then great, this is the appropriate place to do so. Posting comments regurgitating the same facts with an attempt of a swipe at Gerrard ruins the thread and is childish. Maybe the mods could open an u12s section on VT if this is really want people want to do
  17. Its the Steven Gerrard thread and not the post match cup game thread. The game we won 4-1 and progressed into the next round. Job done. Let's look forward to Man Utd if we want to discuss the Cup.
  18. Interesting how 'managed to sort ourselves out' morphed into ' that a league 1 team tired'. Would there be a scent of a bias coming through there?
  19. 100% aligned with that, it is exactly what my view on the situation is
  20. He was fairly restricted during his time there. Didn't he have a season where he spent nothing. At the time, the tight git Levy wouldn't pay a proper fee for Jack and offered a derisory amount plush Josh Onomah and a half packet of toffos. If we were to emply Poch, I would expect he would be strongly supported in the market but the challenge for any manager at Villa is we are without doubt at the stage of we must have player exits t justify player additions
  21. If u aren't old enough to remember Atkinson then u wont remember Alex Ferguson's start at United. He was within days of getting the sack and only a 1-0 win at Forest in the FA cup saved his bacon. The rest is history. I think the difficult part of getting a new manager in to a club is going to be the first 6 months to a year. Lots of change etc and the club hurts during this process (as suggested by the data u published). I just fear that we have gone through the difficult time and are close to starting to reap the rewards and if we sack SG now we would just be back at square 1. I don't know if SG will work out, when he was first linked with Villa I did not want him as manager. But we knew we were getting a rookie and it doesn't take a genius to anticipate he may need time so I expect the club will stand by him a bit longer to see if he can actually make the grade
  22. I am not sure what the wage bill is. I have read reports it is circa 90m, but I expect it has risen from that. Revenue is about 175m so we are well within limits as it stands but we won't have too much wiggle room
  23. @Tomasky Thank you for publishing thus and putting the effort in. It is interesting as my reading of it shows there is merit in giving Gerrard more time to prove himself or fail, whichever it may be.
