  1. I agree we need consistency but if we are to push for Europe we have to take more points from the weak teams. We will not take enough points from the top of the league to finish 7th or higher by dropping too many against weaker teams. And yes there will always be an upset result for teams but it is the consistency of the 'upset' against us that we must improve upon
  2. it ruins debate when people nail their colours to either mast, whether that be Smith in or Smith out. Too many of the Smith in people just cannot see any wrong and won't contemplate that AV could possibly do better than Smith. Likewise the Smith out people tend not to see the good that Smith has done at Villa and that we could do worse than Smith. The bottom line is that it is somewhere in between Smith is brilliant and Smith is crap. It would be nice to be able to discuss BOTH strengths and weaknesses with some objectivity and less of the bias
  3. Also, Marvelous Nakamba was marvellous when he replaced McGinn
  4. The point you are making is a valid one and it is a problem for Villa & DS. We drop way too many points against much weaker opposition. I know all games are difficult and I know we thrashed Liverpool and did the double over Arsenal etc. However, to push on we simply have to stop dropping points like we did to Sheffield United last season and Watford et al
  5. I doubt we will play 5-3-2 against Man Utd as Axel is ineligible
  6. Not trying to lower the standard of the conversation but it is like that moment between when you are about to cum and when you actually throw your load. Bliss
  7. Was that in the pub or a reliable source? Not good if correct
  8. Surely this is a screw up by Smith and Lange. We managed to get rid of the focus on one outstanding player and the fools have gone and replaced him with another outstanding player to take all the focus of a game. Okay, we got Emi B, Ings, Tuanzebe and Ash and pocketed about 5m but you have to question the strategy of repeating the same mistake. Smith and Lange out
  9. And the corner that resulted in the goal was won by our right wingback breaking forward fully up to the right side of the box and trying to pass the ball into the box
  10. At the time I didn't think too much of it as I was caught up in the excitement of the game. But F me, watching the replays and pressing pause to see the position of the other players, it was as clear a Red Card as I will ever see. I am a bit perplexed as to why VAR did not pick it up. Surely it was clear an obvious
  11. It was Konsa, I was just adding it as an important attribute for a defender
  12. He doesn't have to be the player he once was to be the best striker in the PL. CR7 is one of the best players ever in the history of football. A decrease from that level is still an outstanding player. He would be in the starting 11 of each of the top 6 clubs if he played for them. If Dean Smith or any other manger is not scared of the Ronaldo threat I would say they are very naive.
  13. How are we going to stop the supply? Bruno, Pogba, Shaw, Sancho, AWB etc will get balls into the box. There is no way we are going to stop all of the supply. We must stop CR7. This is way he scares me as he is so difficult to stop. The guy's positional sense is the best in the PL if not the world
  14. another important defensive capability Holding back Gray when through on goal and not getting caught when you are the last man
  15. These memories are starting to make me feel good about this weekend. Bailey to shine on the Old Trafford stage and get MOTM with so many illustrious talent on the pitch and Sky to saying he is world class and worth 100m
  16. I was in the Stretford end using a mate's 2 season tickets. It was crazy and we couldn't celebrate when we scored. We had a great night afterwards. A few pints for me, cokes for the lad and some Pizza and then a late flight home. Very happy times
  17. You''re absolutely correct. The fact that my son was born in 2000 should have been a giveaway to me that I was making a mistake . And yes, when we take the lead I just expect them to go on to score. Even if we go 2 or 3 nil up I will be worried. They really are a bogey team for us. I am 100% convinced that Ronaldo will score next weekend.
  18. I brought my son to his first ever Premier League game at Old Trafford to see Man Utd v Villa in 1999. We don't live in England so it was up early, the excitement of a flight and a day out. What a bloody game to go to. I also put 50 on Villa to win 1-0 and Gabby to score and asked my son would he like a bet and I put a tenner on for him. He copied my bet and had 10quid on Villa 1-0 with Gabby scoring. We won 1,080 between us. It was a hugely memorably day in our life
  19. Yes pisses me off still. I just went through the pain of watching the goal again. 90th minute to snatch a 3-2 win. And you are more than right that he hadn't played for 6 seasons at the time. It was his debut for Utd at the age of 17. It all went downhill from there
  20. That goal really pissed me off at the time. Only scored 5 goals in 6 seasons at Utd and had to score a worldie against us
  21. I disagree with that, obviously he needs service like any other player and if the ball isn't passed to him he won't score, same can be said about Haaland or Mbappe. But Ronaldo has the positional sense and movement off the ball to make the assist much easier for his teammates. This is a huge reason why he scores so many goals
