  1. As I said in my other response. I do not have a chip on my shoulder re DS and nor do I get one. I also suggested to look at the redcafe post match thread on Man Utd v Villa and it can be clearly seen that Man Utd fans attribute Smith with a lot of plaudits for the performance on Saturday. Also the media is extremely complementary about Smith and how Villa are doing. I don't subscribe to an inferiority complex with regard to Villa or Smith
  2. Saturday made me dream that it is possible to have it next season. Realistically, I am aiming for a top half finish for Villa (8th to 10th) but the last 3 performances and the result on Saturday has given me a little hope for something better
  3. What did u mean to say? You did say you 'hate this chip on shoulders that we get'
  4. I wish we had some European Basement League fixtures too
  5. This. And not just because Hause deserves to keep his place but Hause is a Villa player and Axel is a Man Utd player. We should always be trying to prioritise our players into the team ahead of loanees
  6. They have more than Son that is scary, let's just hope that Nuno continues to be unable to get them to play as a team. When they click as a team they will be a top 6 PL side
  7. Speak for yourself. I have no chip on my shoulder about Dean Smith. Quite the contrary, I think it is great that our Head Coach is a genuine fan of the club. This is very rare and we should be proud of it rather than having a chip on our shoulder. Also, we have moved from the Championship to the PL under Dean Smith, again something to be proud of. Look at redcafe's forum and the post match Man U v Villa game. The overwhelming message is that Dean Smith out managed Ole and Villa deserved to win. Dean's name was even mentioned a few times as a potential successor to Ole. If we think we are small and act like we are small we will get a chip on our shoulder. The is absolutely no need to.
  8. Yep, Dean is great and Potter would be a good replacement if the time came where we needed a replacement. However, I suspect Potter may be at a bigger club than Brighton long before Dean's position at Villa comes under threat. If Villa add a 4th consecutive loss to 3 goals next weekend, Nuno could find himself having a very short tenure at Spurs
  9. It will be a happy day at training tomorrow
  10. Of the last 5 years we have been in the Championship for 2 of them and Brighton have been in the PL for 5 of them. Not exactly comparing like with like. Also, you have now added the 'net spend' caveat' to your assertion as opposed to just spending shitloads. It is kind of convenient for your argument that we have just sold a player for a record transfer fee to an English club of 100m. The actual numbers as per transfermarkt are below. If you don't think we are massively outspending Brighton you have your head in the sand. Look at our spend on players since we got promoted. EDIT: That doesn't include significant loan fees for Tammy, Bolasie, Tuanzebe (twice), Mings, Barkley, Drinkwater, Onomah, Johnstone, Snodgrass, Carroll and Reina.
  11. They have in their arse spent shit loads of money. We are like Man City in spending compared to Brighton
  12. Good point. But isn't this man working in the background as Head of Loans
  13. Is there any aspect of AVFC that hasn't improved in the last 3 years. I genuinely can't think of a single thing that has not moved forward
  14. Dean is doing really well, it is a great time to be a Villa fan. As you say everything is evolving. I think Purslow was one of the most important recruits by NSWE. He employed Smith and he is making all these changes happen
  15. I would give u more than 1 like for that comment if I could
  16. Levy told him that the most important thing if he wants to keep his job is consistency. They have conceded 3 so time to park the bus
  17. This is Nuno's third 3-0 loss in the PL on the trot. We will have to keep that record going next week
  18. Not sure there is too much evidence to support that
  19. Wolves look poor against Saints. I really can't see them troubling us in a couple of weeks at VP.
  20. I rewatched the game and the performance was as good as I remembered in. Normally when I look at the game the next day I see it with of less claret & blue bias but we were really really good yesterday. I think the thing that pleased me most about Smith's decisions yesterday was bringing on Archer for Ramsey in the 86th minute at O/T with the score 0-0. That is a big balls substitution, particularly so with an in form Nakamba sitting on the bench. That is something Bruce would never have done
  21. That's hearsay, Smith said he left of his own accord. He also asked him to stay at the club longer to bridge the gap with JT leaving
