  1. Villa are 5/2 to win this game. Considering the form of each side they seem like attractive odds
  2. I am not sure that can be deduced as a result of what happened this year. There was no requirement for NSWE to inject funds as we received a large payment from the sale of Jack. Also, it wasn't quite a loan that they got from Barclay's, it was an overdraft facility and there is nothing to suggest that we have even used this facility. It is prudent business practice to have such a facility in place.
  3. Of course the money should be shared unevenly. Suggesting it is shared evening is like saying the winner of Wimbledon should receive the same amount of money at a semi finalist or a quarter finalist etc. As regards the number of time on TV, the last few years don't really count as all games were on TV but I didn't a quick google and found this for the '16/'17 season https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/how-many-times-your-team-10439021 Arsenal - 25 Bournemouth - 13 Burnley - 10 Chelsea - 28 Palace - 14 Everton - 18 Hull - 8 Leicester - 16 Liverpool - 29 City - 28 United - 28 Boro - 13 Southampton - 15 Stoke - 9 Sunderland - 8 Swansea - 10 Spurs - 25 Watford - 13 WBA - 11 West Ham - 15 So 5 big teams are all in the 20s (including Spurs) and the majority of the rest were in the teens with Sunderland, Stoke and Hull on single figures. To me that is about right. I like watching football and if Villa are not playing I would much prefer to watch the teams that Sky had on TV more than the teams which were broadcast less. It is driven by advertising value as more people wan to watch the bigger teams
  4. The games that they broadcast are the ones that will have the biggest audience and thus the ones that can charge the highest advertising fee during half time. I am sure Sky earn a hell of a lot more money by selling ads during a Man Utd v Man City games than they would Burnley v Brighton. That's why the big teams are on TV more often. Also, the big teams are aware that they bring in the big money hence they understandably want a bigger slice of the pie.
  5. I am not sure you are reading my comment correctly. I am saying that the PL needs elite teams, it doesn't matter who these teams are and if you read my other comments I am not a subscriber to the top 4/6 being a closed shop. It is very much open and we can join it. But the point I made was that the value of broadcast rights is increased with elite teams in the league.
  6. Yes, the strategy appears to be coming to fruition. It is great as a fan to watch it unfold. Everything about Villa is positive which is a big change on what we have lived through over the last decade
  7. NSWE don't have to go nuclear to hit those numbers, our current spend rate is well on target to be in excess of 1 Billion in 10 years.
  8. It would be wrong to divide the money evenly and it would also lessen the value of the PL. The PL would be a much less attractive advertising proposition if it did not have elite teams. Also, the better teams deserve more money as they are winning more. There is no way Burnley should be earning the same amount of money as Liverpool as Liverpool provide a better product and Liverpool help to increase the amount the TV rights are sold for much more than Burnley do. It is a competitive sport and those that compete better will correctly get more of a reward
  9. I was tried to think of a smart retort but I just can't. Spurs are muck, we should get our biggest win of the season against them
  10. I loved Ozzie Ardiles. Lets go out and win 7-4
  11. I think Ndombele, Royal would give Cash a run for his money, Hojbjerg would probably get into our 1st 11. I would love Skipp at Villa, he is a good prospect, still only 20. But I think that both Kane & Son are elite players it pushes them that bit higher than we are and into top 6. But it is a good point you are making, they are not miles ahead of us
  12. If he is on 28k now then we may be able to pay less than 50k. But a decent wage may attract him to Villa as it would be his last big contract. We have spent far more than 12m/15m on GKs over 5 years and it has been a disaster. Sign SJ would give us a really strong GK setup
  13. I think SJ has improved a lot since his time with us though, I do agree he did have the odd clanger and yes I agree an experienced GK and a youth would be perfect. I think as SJ will be available on a free he could be a very good value back up as the experienced GK
  14. I remember discussions about him when he was at Villa and he had better stats than Kante and the narrative was that you can't judge a player on stats alone and he is not that good
  15. To add to that. Steer is apparently on 20k a week and he is not strong enough to be Emi's backup in the PL. 5k to 10k a week will not be good enough. I also think we can easily afford it, it would be about 12.5m over 5 years. We must have spent 25m+ on GKs in the 3 or 4 years before spending 17m on Emi and that doesn't even include wages.
  16. I think we need a good backup GK more than any other position on the pitch. If Emi is out injured for 4 or 5 weeks that could cost us big time if we don't have a high quality replacement.
  17. And 2 in the starting 11s. I read that this games is the most expensive two teams to ever play each other. Total cost 2.05 Billion. You could buy Nottingham Forest for 50m and have 2 Billion left over and you would still have 2 European Cups more that City and PSG have between them
  18. I would suspect you are right but I think SJ would be an excellent backup and if he has the confidence to try and take Emi's place then all the better. A 5 year contract on 50k a week and we would have (barring serious injury) our GKs sorted for the next 5 years. It would also be good to keep EMi on his toes with some competition and we could give him a break occasionally
  19. Ah come on, we all know that was an accidental butt dial that selected the photo as posted it
  20. Emi B didn't get selected for the Argie squad for the next set of internationals. Unfortunately Emi M was selected
  21. Sam Johnston is available on a free next summer. Would he have the balls to come back and fight for a starting place against Emi. He could also play in the Europa games. The Baggies may be a bit pissed if we got him on a free. They thought they would get 25m for him in the last window.
  22. Regardless it's a bit early on in the Smith+NSWE+Purslow project to be *expecting* an away win at white hart lane isn't it? Its a bit of luck we are not playing at White Hart Lane and the game is at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium Seriously though, I get your point and on normal circumstances I would agree. But with Kane appeared to be pissed off he did not get Jack's move to City and Nuno looking like he has already lost the dressing room I think we couldn't be playing Spurs at a better time. Yes they could turn it around but they currently look shyte and we currently look great
  23. That sounds a little too much like a City fan for my liking. I would prefer something along the lines of... we are very fortunate to know we have well funded and supportive owners that can invest in Jan if the right opportunity arises.
