  1. I think your Mes may be closely related to mine. They sound very similar
  2. I had completely forgotten that. They also got Gullet as a manager to move there
  3. By the sounds of it your Mrs is better at keeping a clean sheet than Martinez
  4. Over the last 3 years they are about 20m in profit. You are allowed to make a loss of 105m. So they can spend about 125m. If it was all spent on players on 4 year contracts you amortise over 4 years so you can theoretically spend 500m. However, that does not include wages and then next year they would be screwed and wouldn't be able to spend any money. They should be able to spend 150m a year for the next few years. Similar to Villa but we had the big benefit of selling Jack for 100m which helped us a lot. But sacking Bruce will cost them 9m apparently and then if they get a high profile manager that could cost them some serious wonga too. It is not going to be the spunkfest of spending that many (Toon fans) believe.
  5. EDIT: We were actually investigated for selling the stadium at a lower than market price and not a higher than market price. The implication of this is that Villa would pay a lower rent each year, thus reducing our costs and as such increasing our profits and allowing us to spend more money
  6. The valuation of Villa Park was not the way we bent the rules. The fact that we sold our stadium to ourselves and accounted the sale price as a profit on our accounts was bending the FFP rules. If we had not done this we would have been in breach of FFP. Selling the stadium and treating that money as operating profit is bending the rules. In principle, this is no different to what Man City did. They sold sponsorship to the equivalent of themselves to avoid breaching FFP. Both Villa and Man City used a loophole to allow their owners to spend more money on players and wages than what other clubs could do. The fact that both loopholes have now been closed is evidence of that it was bending the rules.
  7. I agree with your post but you should add Villa to the list with City as teams that bend the FFP rules. We were in breach of FFP and got away with it by selling Villa Park to ourselves. This loophole, like the loophole City exploited has now been closed.
  8. The Saudi dynasty were in control of the majority of the current Saudi Arabia before America was even founded, it is probably understandable why people who follow Saudi Arabia and the Royal family get wound up with you if you refer to it as occupied Arabia.
  9. Rafa would be a very good fit for them. I actually had thought of that. Toffee fans were all complaining when Rafa joined and wanted him out. If Amanda seduces Rafa to return to the Toon the Toffee fans will no doubt be moaning at the club for letting him go
  10. They would be doing well to get 11+ players for 500m that would get them into CL football. We have spent 350m and are nowhere near it. Jack 100m and Lukaku 98m and u have only 300m left for the other 10+ players. Having a budget of 500m is akin to picking a Fantasy team, it all starts off easily but then u have 12.5m left and u need 3 more players. Toon would need 1Bn+ to get 11+ new players that would give them CL and that is assuming they all work out. There will be some players that just don't work out and they will need to be offloaded and replaced. It is going to be very difficult for Toon to sell players as they will be signing players on massive wages and no other club will want them.
  11. Bees did very well considering they just got a shiny new stadium and only spent 50m
  12. There are a serious amount of very questionable posts on here tonight. The green eyed monster is showing its ugly head
  13. I thought the Sky 6 was a closed group or was that just fans of teams that are not up there?
  14. He would want a proper pay rise if he is going to play for a team not competing at the higher end of a league table. Also Toon would not be able to afford him with FFP
  15. They were profit for 2 of the last 3 seasons, last season was a loss of about 19m. But with Covid help on P&S they will be well in profit for the P&S accounting window and they are allowed 105m loss. They can spend very big if they want
  16. That is exactly my point. We were discussing why buy Toon. Their stadium and amount of fans that rock up for a home game is a huge differentiator for them
  17. It will be huge for them. It will increase their profitability and with P&S that will allow them to spend the money they want to on new players. If it is worth 50m a year that would be worth about 200m in transfers in a transfer window
  18. 40m for Davis and 60m for Targett. If Bruce is still there then maybe 150m on SJM
  19. 50k people at 40 quid a head is 2m. Add in beer, pies and other shyte and it is 2.5m. 19 home game in the league and cup and Europe and it is well in excess of 50m a year. That is not an after thought for a company that has revenue in the low hundreds of millions
