  1. That doesn't suit the narrative though, hence it is ignored
  2. Its not looking good for him (or us)
  3. Well, the comment was specifically about Purslow saying about getting into Europe. But accepting that he didn't say that I do agree that he said we would be up there and pushing for Europe. After 3 games, W1 L2, I suspect it is a tad early to say we haven't met the goal of pushing for Europe.
  4. I did say to give him time to succeed or fail but I guess the narrative doesn't like that, The reason we should give him time is because of the huge amount of money we invested in sacking Smith and employing SG and the huge amount of money it would cost to sack SG and replace him. I thought that was fairly obvious. Also, we have put the effort into bring SG into Villa and we should give it every opportunity to succeed. Again, I would have thought his was fairly obvious
  5. Nice twist on it, but the bottom line is neither u nor I know if SG will be successful or not. Currently SG is not doing himself any favours and it looks like he won't make it but as has been shown many times before, just because a manager doesn't get immediate success it doesn't mean he is not the right man. He has only had about 30 games as our gaffer, he is a rookie, we need to give him time to succeed or fail.
  6. I agree it is not Smith v Garrard but I still see nothing from your quotes to say SG should be getting Europe this season. I am happy to eat humble pie but I am confident I won't need to
  7. All managers cost a lot of money and not just at Villa. Still not sure what point you are making other than stating the obvious
  8. That could be a big problem for us. If SG proves to be the wrong manager it will set us back a year or two in our progress
  9. So u don't believe the board knew they were employing a rookie manager???
  10. I am not sure what point you are making. I am sure that Purslow et al know, just as I do, that there is a lot of money for each place u finish in the PL table
  11. We are Aston Villa and we have made a decision to try a rookie manager. Like it or not, that is what has happened and that is what Aston Villa decided to do
  12. If we are looking like relegation candidates SG will be sacked. But the board will GIVE HIM AS MUCH TIME AS POSSIBLE before having to make this decision
  13. I don't recall him saying that he would achieve that after 30 odd games. I am surprised he said that, I thought he was a smart guy. When did he say that, do you have a link?
  14. We will give him as much time as possible as it will cost us a huge amount of money to and replace him. It is not a boolean decision as many factors impact it. There will be no predetermined amount of games that will cost SG his job.
  15. The Board have to make decisions that they believe are right for the club. Its fairly irrelevant whether you or I or anyone else thought Deano could take us to the next level,. They obviously believe Gerrard has more chance of success at Villa than Deano. The board made a conscious decision to employ a rookie and they decided the risk was worth it. Having made the decision to employ a rookie it would be daft to sack him before he has learned on the job.
  16. I didn’t say he was learning, I replied to a comment that said he was learning. I am just saying if he is learning he will improve. I don’t know if SG will work out but it is looking dodgy but I am prepared to give hiM a chance to learn
  17. I am not wrong. If u learn u improve. That should not be up for debate. However, if he is not learning he will not improve. But as I said the key word is learning as by definition that means improve the
  18. AVFC employee SG with the full understanding he was a novice. They will have been fully aware he will need to go through a learning process. He was employed because of potential and what he has achieved to date in the knowledge he had no premier league experience. this is the same reason Chelsea paid 20m for Chuk. It is the potential. whether that risk taking was the right decision or not is not the point. We have rolled the dice and we need the balls to see it through
  19. It’s not correct. If u learn something u improve at it. It’s not a difficult concept to understand
  20. The key word is Learning, by definition, that means he will get better
  21. Yes non binary would be better, and I can't change my typo, obviously 'Qatar' and not Qater
  22. That would be quite cool, the icing on the cake was if she said she was gay and was bringing her g/f to Qater with her . Seriously though, it would be a really bold statement to employ her at Villa. It would get more publicity than SG. I wonder how players would react and how potential new signings would react
  23. There is absolutely no chance of Gerrard get this team to win tomorrow, there is more chance of me having a night of fun with Paige Spiranac. However, I am hopefully we may get the win on Sunday
  24. I think one or two of those pages may show a little repetition of the same point
  25. Of course u will be on your own. None of us on VT have ever been wrong about anything
