  1. If Bees finished above us this season it would be more than Smith that should be kicked out of Villa
  2. If we were to sack Smith then it would be because we believe he is not up to the job. If that is the case he should be sacked. If we employ a new manager that also fails that is a completely different discussion and our recruitment process was wrong and we would need to try again. But keeping a manager you do not have confidence in because you are afraid his replacement may fail is the wrong approach
  3. There is a difference to being an Okay Team and things going okay. I think we have a good squad and an okay team which is currently acceptable imo. But progress being 'okay' is completely unacceptable. Our progression should be good to excellent for people to keep their jobs, whether that be players, coaches, backroom staff or Smith. We cannot be a club to take the foot off the pedal and coast. Relentless drive to improve is a must.
  4. Things going okay is not the standard we should be at nor accept. We are a club investing in every single aspect of Aston Villa with the objective of European football. 'Okay' is an unacceptable standard and should be weeded out of the club
  5. No chance of relegation this season. Our squad is way too good. If we were down in the drop zone Smith would be replaced
  6. Leicester bought Tielesmans for 40m. Their next two most expensive were Fofana (31.5) and Perez (30m). That is very similar spending to us
  7. That is my biggest concern with Smith. I really like the guy and hope he can fix things but reacting to what is actually happening on the pitch is a weakness we have
  8. Agreed, it would be understandable if Arsenal had an array of excellent GKs but they have since spent 25m+5m on Ramsdale. Bloody crazy transfer management
  9. I wouldn't listen to advice on the internet, the only sensible solution is to go and try all 7. And make sure you do this in one sitting so that you can properly compare them. Enjoy!
  10. apparently Purslow paid for him to join them as a gift to the Villa fans
  11. Every single reference to Smith's wage suggests he is on about 1.5m a year. Just because you don't agree with it doesn't mean it isn't true.
  12. Has he not got more (or equal) amount of promotions from the Championship than any other manager?
  13. He was on under 1m a year for is first contract with us by all reports and got close to 600k pay rise with the new contract. He was on 400k at Bees, so he more than doubled his salary joining us which sounds reasonable
  14. https://goalballlive.com/all-2020-premier-league-managers-salaries-have-been-published/
  15. Good idea, I could also give him a few tips on formation and team selection while I am at it
  16. I would say DS is still at a position in life where he would like to make some very serious money. He is 'only' on about 1.5m a year, so about 800k a year net. he has only had this level of salary for the last few years too. It is nice money, but if it was me I would want a little more than that in the bank to be able to look after family and have an exceptionally comfortable retirement. If Spurs offered him 10m a year and a 4 year contract I think would be mad not to take it unless Purslow gave him a major pay rise
  17. There will be no presentation of a bronze cabbage or a watch or a silver kebab in the centre of the pitch to mark the occasion. I imagine there would be 52k people booing if there was
  18. Mc Ginn 100m, Alan Hutton 2 year contract 200k a week, Tammy 150m, Axel 75m and Jack 200m. Then he will enter the loan market as FFP is working against him and he can't get the players in that he wants to but finishing 15th is a good place for Newcastle to be
  19. In fairness to Bruce he is quite good in the transfer windows. Yes, there will always be bad recruits but he gets a lot very very right
  20. Let's hope they keep him long enough to help them get relegated
