  1. That would be a nice thing to see from Villa
  2. Please highlight anything you think I have posted that isn't objective. There is absolutely nothing wrong with discussing Dean's possible weaknesses and what type of manager could Villa attract if Dean was to leave his role. That is objectively looking at the situation. Looking at it subjectively with bias would be saying that people shouldn't talk about a possible Dean replacement as that isn't on the agenda.
  3. Man City are not trying to say the rules are illegal. They are legally challenging and saying they did not breach the rules but they are accepting the rules.
  4. Yeah, I get that, it is only after so many lows we can appreciate the highs. On that basis then I guess Toon deserve a little success
  5. I somewhat agree with that. If it is mutually beneficial for both companies then it should be allowed at market rate. But is a company sponsors a football club and will see no material benefit then it should not be allowed. There needs to be something to ensure it is appropriate sponsorship.
  6. I agree it has to be stopped but the players chase the money. Tuanzebe signed a contract extension with Utd the week he came to us on loan. If he really wanted to further his career he would have told Utd to stick the contract and tried to get a permanent deal with Villa. He also signed a contract extension just before we signed him on loan about 3 years ago. Any thoughts that Villa fans have that Tuanzebe is 'one of us' are rubbish. He is after the cash and not looking for a career in Claret & Blue.
  7. I can't say I agree with that. Quite the opposite really. It is great fun winning a game we should lose and it is like dogshit losing a game we should win
  8. She is not the CEO so she is not running the club. Like when NSWE bought us it takes a bit of time to get the corporate governance and structure in place before they can start managing the club properly to try and push up the league. The problem for them is that soon after buying the club they could find themselves relegated while soon after buying Villa NSWE found us getting promotion. If they do go down there will be no guarantee of immediate promotion. Championship is very tough, FFP rules are stiffer to P&S and it will be difficult to attract good players. It will be enjoyable to watch it unfold from a 'neutral' perspective
  9. Stadium development is outside the scope of P&S. They can spend a Billion on a new stadium this season if they want and still comply with P&S rules
  10. It is not the clubs at the top that control this. Each of the 20 clubs in the PL has an equal vote which means that clubs at the top do not have the power to allow it for some and then turn it off. 18 clubs voted against it yesterday, not 6.
  11. FFP and P&S are not about legality. The PL is not an open competition, there are constraints which do not apply to other business. If the clubs were legally able to prevent sponsorship above market rate then they would be able to legally prevent any of the FFP / P&S restrictions. But clubs sign up to the competition rules if they want to participate.
  12. Maybe try rereading my comment again. Did I say I want to sell him? No. Did I say he would be easy to sell? No I said if the club believe they can sell him then they should maximise his value. Pretty basic stuff really.
  13. Giving Nakamba a new contract or not should really be a financial decision rather than a footballing one. He is not a starter and would be on the list of players that need to be upgraded. Remaining contract duration goes a long way to determining sell on value. If the club believe we can find a buyer then we should extend the contract and maximise the financial return. If we believe we won't find a buyer then we should let his contract wind down.
  14. We don't know that. We were winning before the stupid yellow and we lost the game. It is not good having a CB playing on a yellow as it tends to change their play and remove some of the aggression which helps to allow the other team back into the game.
  15. Ignoring these 'nothing' acts of stupidity cost us points. They won't impact us in every game we play but with consistent acts of stupidity we will concede goals and drop points. These lost points can cost us league position and potential qualification for Europe. They must be eliminated
  16. Yesterday a new temp ruling was introduced to stop sponsorships from businesses which have links to club owners. It is in place for 1 month with a view to putting a permanent deal in place following that. 18 PL clubs voted for this, Man City abstained and Newcastle voted against. Quelle suprise!
  17. We could have a bench with Ings, Archer, Traore, Chuk, Ramsey, Nakamba, Philogene Bidace and El Ghazi. That should give us a couple of options
  18. Still some very good players in that list. Maguire is a top class CB. I am not saying we need to replace Mings with an elite player, I would love to do so but we need a CB that will not make errors so frequently.
  19. Defenders errors and lapses will be highlighted much more due to the position they play and the consequence or potential consequence of their errors. I agree that against Wolves Tuanzebe and Konsa made mistakes but I am not just referring to the Wolves game. I just see Mings making errors and having lapses far too often. Tuanzebe is a loan player, so I will view him differently and I don't expect him nor want him to sign a permanent contract in the summer. He impressed be when with us in the Championship but he isn't doing it for me this time around. Konsa is still young and learning and I think he has a great future ahead of him. He looks like there is a real quality football there and he could develop to be a stalwart for Villa and England. Mings is at the prime / on the down from prime of his career and is an experienced player. He should be well past making mistakes. The fact that he hasn't managed to rid them from his performances suggest to me that he never will. Buendia, has hardly played for us and way too early for me to judge. I can't say I saw much of him at Norwich McGinn, A solid player, like Mings but needs to improve a consistent level of performances. He is good enough to keep at Villa to try and break into Europa Watkins, Definitely a player to have in the squad to get into Europa. Work rate and application is excellent. He will never be a really prolific scorer but a really valuable member of the squad
  20. Yep, he is a good enough footballer from a technical perspective. The problem I see with Mings is the very recurring errors and lapses. At the level of competing for Europe every point is sacred and dropping unnecessary points can mean the difference between qualification or not. The PL is a very strong league and if you are prone to errors you will be punished by the opposition. As much as I like Mings and REALLY appreciate the service and wonderful times he has helped Villa to enjoy I think we are moving on to a different place than one that can live with the errors
  21. Key staff in most big companies will have succession planning and Villa will too. That doesn't mean they will have a replacement ready to step in to the role. But they will have a list of potential managers and will have conducted due diligence on them and that will serve as a short list ready to interview if and when the situation occurs
  22. The fact that Mings is left footed is a huge part of his value and why he gets into the England team imo
  23. As you have taken the time to go back over my posts I would suggest you read the full thread of my discussion on Mings. As Mings has been at Villa for a number of years now we have already amortised a huge amount of his transfer fee. This means that we can sell Mings at a lower price than we paid for him and still make a significant profit. Yes, Mings is not good enough for Villa and that is not for where we are today but where we are going. We are trying to compete for Europe. We need better than Mings and yes there are many clubs out there where Mings would improve their team. That is because Villa is ahead of many clubs out there
