  1. Someone mentioned Sean Dyche. I think he would be perfect for them for 18 months to consolidate in the PL and then they can get their high profile manager. He would also help to get Tarkowski in Jan. Edit: The fans probably wouldn't see the sense in Dyche as manager and would think he is below them and would probably give him hell
  2. It doesnt matter who they get as manager they are going to find it very difficult to get really good players in Jan. The best players will get big money at whatever club they sign for. Why would they sign for Toon with the risk of having to spend some time in the Championship? The better players will wait about 18 months before signing for Toon. They will be left with ageing players of massive contracts that the club will never be able to sell and will have to let them see out their contract up there.
  3. That would probably be the most sensible appointment they could make and would stabilise the club before they start their crazy spending spree. However, I think the suggestions on here are looking for some entertainment leading to their relegation in May
  4. In fairness Bruce doesn't have much to complain about... To never really be wanted...Correct To feel that people wanted me to fail...Correct & saying I would fail...Correct and proven so that I was useless...Correct (with the caveat that useless meant as a football manager) a fat waste of space...Harsh, hurtful but also correct with respect to football management a tactically inept cabbage head...Absolutely Correct
  5. Villa v Newcastle in the league may only happen one for time for a few years though. I suppose he could comment on Newcastle v Blues or Hull
  6. He said it to Luke Edwards of The Telegraph
  7. If I had my choice of manager for Toon I think I would pick Southgate. The perfect Win Win scenario
  8. When Mings speaks out he does so with under the umbrella of anti racism. Society (well, most of society) now accepts that racism is unacceptable. However, football fans still see 'banter' and name calling acceptable. Football has not become too PC or Wokey. The 'abuse' that Bruce has received is not due to the colour of his skin or his gender or sexual orientation, it is 100% based on his 'crapness' at being a football manager. He is absolutely dire and plays awful football. Giving abuse due to this is somewhat acceptable and yes you need a thick skin but hey, he is getting an 8m payoff so I guess that helps
  9. Clark will really enjoy playing out from the back, lots of experience at club and country doing this. He will take to it like a duck to water
  10. Jamie Carragher may be relieved if Henry gets his hand chopped off
  11. The ideal scenario would be to get a new manager in and spunk 100m on players in Jan. Then sack the manager as they are bottom of the league in Feb and get Big Sam in on 10m a year to save the day
  12. A lot of talk of Fonseca for Toon. I don't know too much about him but I believe he is all about patient build of play and playing out from the GK and the CBs. I have also read that he is not great at organising a defence. That sounds perfect for a relegation battle with the Toon squad
  13. That would be too good for the neutral to enjoy watching their relegation
  14. That's a strange view. If he is miserable he should just resign, it is not like he needs a job to pay the mortgage or put some kebabs on the table. He chooses to turn up at St james' Park because he wants an 8m payoff when he is sacked. Strangely enough, there is absolutely no bad treatment from a human perspective from the Saudis on this occasion. I also agree with him as a person. He appears to be a very nice bloke and does what he believes is the right thing to do. I would enjoy going for a few pints with him, I would say he would be great craic
  15. Bruce has now officially left Newcastle, This next appointment is really key for them. A very tough task to avoid the drop this season
  16. I think Dean didn't want Maupay. If Villa really wanted to buy Maupay I suspect we would have been able to. I think Dean saw / sees something in Maupay that made him think he is not the right fit for Villa
  17. Yeah, by consistency I agree that it is the very consistent teams that will finish top 2 or 3 or maybe 4. Obviously the likes of Norwich or consistent from a different perspective. But we are clearly a long way from there. Yes, I am now adding a caveat to my consistency mantra but I just think we are not consistent enough for a good effort at Europa and a top half finish. We will have bad days but just not as frequently as we do now
  18. I know nothing about what he is like out wide but he he is 25 now and Deano has been with us for 3 years so he was 22 when Deano left. I know he always played out wide under Deano and Frank changed him to up front. When he moved him to the ST role I do not know. But he has lots of experience as a wide man so I would like to see what he is like out wide. I think he could be a very good utility man up front switching between ST and wide man. I may be unfair to him with this but I don't see Ollie ever being a 20+ goal PL striker
  19. I agree with that. My comment was more about that I would just like to see Ollie play properly out wide for a game to see what he is like. He could be shyte but he could be amazing. If he played out wide and was crap it would at least close off an open question I have. And if he was brilliant it would give Deano major selection headache but massive strength for us
  20. No not like last season, we collapsed in the 2nd half of the season and didn't look like competing for Europe. Not sure what the point about Everton and Leeds is about
  21. We need to be one of those midtable teams that look like we are about to break into the top 7 and demonstrate the consistency of play to finish in the top half
  22. It is surprising that you find it interesting but yes they can be coached to stop making such errors. It starts off with understanding the scenario that the mistakes take place . Mistakes are more likely to happen when the player is under pressure and or out of position. So coaching to keep the player in position helps reduce mistakes. Further, a player can be coached to read the game better and anticipate the next passage of play better. Better reading of the game also helps to reduce basic errors. And you are right, maybe the club should employ a concentration coach. However the role is not call a concentration coach, it is a 'psychology coach'. And another interesting fact is that Wolves have recently appointed Team GB psychologist Dr Kate Ludlam as their First Team Psychologist. Dr Ludlam works on the metal aspect of football to get the players to believe in themselves, maintain concentration and put them in the correct frame of mind to win games. They appear to be able to have the drive to push to the very last minute on Saturday to get 3 points from a game that looked completely lost.
  23. I am sort of in agreement with you, that would be my initial thinking. But, I don't think I have ever seen him play out wide and I would be very interested to see what he is like. It would be good use of a cup game to stick Ings up front with Bailey and Ollie out wide and Buendia sitting in between then all pulling the strings
  24. Watkins played out wide when Deano managed him at Brentford. It was Frank that moved Watkins into the striker role EDIT: I meant to add that I agree, it is Ings and not injuries that has us playing 5 at the back
  25. I would too but that would only apply to the generation that grew up with it at Villa Park. I still refer to Whitehart Lane, Highbury and St Mary's etc and I always will, even though WHL and Highbury are physically different stadiums at a different location. However, young supporters will no doubt call it The Emirates
