  1. I had forgotten about the 2 bottle jobs for CL. So that is bottling at Leicester and Liverpool. Even more reason for me not to like him
  2. I couldn't quite explain why I don't want BR but that is a damn good start
  3. When he left PSG, they didn't just write him a cheque for 10m or whatever the compensation was. They pay it in instalments and it is normal that the manager must stay unemployed to continue to receive the payments. So for the manager to take a job he would be giving up these payments and it is normal to negotiate with the new club to pay these to him
  4. Potter would be a much easier fit from a strategy and finance perspective and would fit in with current budgets. I think we are paying SG about 5m a year, I don't believe we would have anywhere near 12m+ in our budget for a new manager's salary. As I am sure u know, budgets get approved and signed off and cannot easily be changed. Very often it is impossible to change a budget by any meaningful amount. For us to get Poch, I think Purslow would need to go to NSWE and say 'Hey guys, u know that budget u approved, the one I said was set in stone, well, guess what, I now want to change it'. That is a very difficult conversation for a CEO to have, particularly when he was the one pushing for SG
  5. This maybe unfair on the guy but I think the clubs he has been at made him look better than he is. Liverpool threw away the league when our current manager was playing and it wasn't just because of the slip against Chelsea. He managed Celtic when Rangers were turfed out of the Scot Prem and he has gradually brought Leicester downward since joining. Yes, he won the FA cup but there is a lot of luck involved in winning a cup and he had a close to prime Vardy in his team who was scoring for fun
  6. I agree with that, the issue is could we afford him. He would be 12m+ a year, plus a lot more in compensation. I think our budgeting and financial strategy would need to be changed. Finance people and senior management hate changing budgets, it is a sign of poor planning
  7. And he stayed in the job for 26 years!
  8. I am not so sure it would be compensation free. When managers leave a club and get a pay off the pay off is normally linked to a clause that says if he returns to work as a manager that the pay off payments will cease. So Poch may have to forgo a good few million to take a new job which would probably be negotiated as a signing on fee. Its like a free agent, nothing is ever free
  9. Hasn't done enough at Saints to impress me. He is there a good few years now and they are no better than they were. Also, the ability to lose a Premier League game to Leicester by 9 goals to nil is not a good sign. A big No from me
  10. I think the term mid season is referring to 'during the season' as opposed to between seasons during the summer.
  11. The top 6 do employ British coaches, the problem is that there are very few around recently to warrant consideration. Alex Fergusson, David Moyes and Brendan Rodgers??
  12. I think that depends on his contract. If he has an 'exit clause' then we will be allowed to talk, if not I would say we would be given the 2 fingers
  13. I think the benchmark has been set at prolonged results yielding about a point per game followed by 5 losses results in a change of manager
  14. So there is 0.000000001% chance we are getting Poch. I will take that
  15. I don’t think his job was ever under immediate threat regardless of the Hammers result. Nor can I see the Man City game impacting his tenure as manager. I am sure Purslow will be sounding out the market but that’s to be expected
  16. I think that is a forgivable error or typo on their part. I think today is the day to start believing
  17. He is my favourite pundit of all time, ever since I first heard about him, about 5 mins ago on here. To date, I have never ever seen him get something wrong
  18. The Poch tweet does sound like BS. Asking him if he would join us if we decide to sack our manager in a month's time. Any self respecting manager would tell us to take a hike and come back when they are prepared to actually offer him the job or not
  19. In English... "Aston Villa made initial contacts with representatives of Mauricio Pochettino. They want to discuss a possible deal if Gerrard leaves during the international break. Many clubs are looking to the Argentine. Villa wants to move quickly"
  20. I am not sure Leicester will sack BR. They appear to be battening down the hatches and not spending any cash. Sacking BR and bringing in a new guy will cost them millions
  21. Possibly an idea to assess how the changes are implemented and what difference they make to the team before reacting.
  22. i see 'toilet training' used as an alternative
