If he is better than Smith then we don't need the experience, it would be a bonus but once the next manager is better than the incumbent, that is the main thing.
Did you miss the Hause tackle?
I agree completely with that but equally, the last thing we want to do is keep a manager if we believe he is the wrong man for the job. We can't be afraid to replace him
IF he is to go soon I suspect it will be next Tuesday. IF he goes it would probably be following a poor result, so if he is to go soon it will be after Friday night. A meeting on Monday with CP and NSWE and get the lawyers to draw up the paperwork and check we are doing everything as per employment law and then the actual sacking next Tue.
I agree that things are looking less than rosy in the Villa garden but I don't see the disrespect. Do you mean disrespect from within the club from Purslow and undermining his position?
Between Poch, Jose and now Nuno, Spurs must be shedding a sythe load of cash and Conte will cost them 15m/20m a year and no doubt he will want to spend a few pennies in the transfer windows
I think that Smith is now dealing with something he has never experienced before in that he has many multi million pound players that are internationals and they themselves have a view on how and where they should play. With losing JT and ROK, Smith's voice needs to be much stronger and commanding. When things are not going well and different players are potentially suggesting different formations and styles etc it can be difficult for a manager. When we had JT, I am sure he said the this is the way you have to do it and there would be no pushback.
I would expect a minimum of 4 points. But it is not so much the points it is the way we are actually playing. I really don't like the 'unlucky' aspect either. It all balances out. Man U are in bad form, missed penalty, deflected goal against Wolves (by us), Konsa should have seen Red against Everton at 0-0. If we are to take into account when we are unlucky we should also take into account when we are lucky
I agree that a problem is that managers are sacked too quickly and I also agree with how to achieve success. My problem is that I just don't see that happening at Villa, and it is not just in the last 4 games I don't see it, it is a worryingly long time
I think the problem with that is, if they were up and coming we would not know about them. I don't think many people heard of Poch before he joined Saints and just about everyone and all media were highly critical of Saints for sacking Aitkins and appointing him. We need to have a good scouting team to find the right manager if we are to replace Dean
I haven't seen one comment on here suggesting we should be challenging for the league and be playing CL and nor have I heard or read of any Villa fan suggesting it either
Not only that, if u play with a system then it makes the transfer windows much easier and much more successful and lower risk. We should buy players to fit the system and not just individuals that are gifted footballers
I don't know how others felt but I expected an improvement on last season and a very significant improvement on the results from the 2nd half of last season. I believed we had the players to do it and I had hoped DS would deliver this improvement.
