  1. playing like a relegation certainty unfortunately
  2. Sky showed a stat tonight when discussing Spurs/Nuno, that Spurs players were 20th for distance covered during a game and we were there in 19th. That is not good enough
  3. Its Rafa, their fans started the meltdown when the media first linked him with the job. You should never employ a manager that referred to u as a small club when managing your local rivals
  4. I think someone has posted that Dean has 7 wins in the last 29 (maybe 25) games. Is that not long term and is that not a bad return?
  5. Agreed, I think they have been most of the season and some results went their way. It is just balancing itself out now. It doesn't matter how good u were the previous season or who good your manager is but u can't get away with spending about 2m in the summer window and expect to be competing at the top table
  6. And keeping a manager that was successful in the past but is potentially dragging us into a relegation scrap isn't tunnel vision
  7. The past exists only in our memories, the future only in our plans. The present is our only reality.
  8. Its like going to the dogs and betting on a 5-3-2 tricast in every race in the hope that it will eventually click. You soon run out of credit
  9. Yeah but our bad patches last quite a long time, it is never just 4 or 5 games and we need to be able to get out of our bad patches much quicker than we have shown in the past if we want to get a top half finish
  10. I don't see why we can't get Potter if we wanted him
  11. Do you not see that as a problem Smith has? Why do we repeatedly need to get out of a horrible run of results. Rather than having a manage to get us out of these situations we need a manager that doesn't get us into them in the first place
  12. I would say they have a list of managers that they would like at Villa. I think I have much more confidence in Villa as an attractive proposition that many, maybe my claret & blue tinted glasses. But we have the basis of a great squad, are a big club, great owners, well funded, great youth setup, great youths chomping at the bit for 1st team and second to non training facilities and we are one of only 20 teams to play in the best league in the world. I would think we will be able to attract a lot of quality managers to Villa
  13. 100% agree. Procrastination is a sure fire way to disaster. Yes, they could make the wrong decision and it may create a setback e.g. Spurs employing Nuno and sacking him after 10 games but I think they have now struck gold with Conte, but it is worse not to sack and risk making a mistake
  14. We definitely need at least one win but I think the performances will count for more than the points.
  15. Considering Conte doesn't play a left back that could mean Kane sitting on the bench or finding a new club. Maybe a cheeky bid from Pep in Jan to give Conte some transfer funds
  16. Conte is totally ruthless, if u don't do it his way you leave the club. Levy and Conte is not a relationship I see any future in. Definitely needs a prenup. The problem Levy will have is that the fans will likely take to Conte and that will give Conte much more leverage. I can see this ending badly
  17. I am sure Levy has had to open the cheque book and pay him huge money. He will be on circa 20m a year I expect
  18. Its not just two wins though. There are 9 clubs we would need to get zero points for us to get to the European places. When you are down at the lower end of the table we need a lot of clubs above us to make a significant move upwards
  19. Conte must be really enjoying the negotiations with Spurs. They are desperate to get him and he holds all the cards. Levy is going to have to drop his trousers and just bend over and take it, he will be taken to the cleaners. Couldn't happen to a nicer man
  20. there is also 3 points between us and the relegation places
  21. Unfortunately fairness doesn't come into it. We cannot risk relegation, if Deano continues to get these results and play like we are playing he must leave the club and be replaced with someone to try and help us protect our PL status
  22. Its actually 7 points, we can't rely on a CL team winning the Carabao. But Watford and Leeds are also 'only' 7 points off Europe which gives it a little more perspective
