  1. Denmark manager does look like a dodgy appointment. I am assuming (hoping) that this is just the media making the link because of Lange's connection
  2. Were any of our players proven PL players. The only player on that list that comes anywhere close to been a proven PL player is Matt Targett. I think the players we have bought are good but other than Danny Ings we haven't bought any PL proven players
  3. I doubt it, I haven't looked at the numbers but they sold Ben White for 50m in the summer which would make a difference to net
  4. Klopp, Pep, Poch, Tuchel or Conte would be good managers if we bought out their contracts Aside from that it is the normal debate on here as it is very easy to find fault or a negative stat associated with any manager. Potter plays nice football and they are organised, hence the people that like Potter. Vieira, not mentioned on here, probably as he has only managed in the PL for 11 games is doing an amazing job at Brighton, I think he is the best performing manager in the PL this season so far. If he continues his current progress he will be much sought after this or next summer. Hasenhuttl also has a good brand of football but he has quite a few red flags on his CV but he is doing a reasonably good job at Saints. Rogers is dong a great job at Leicester but he is out of our reach and appears happy at Leicester earning his 10m/15m a year. Frank at Bees is doing well but again a few red flags on his cv and Moyes is clearly over achieving at West Ham. Out of the semi realistic list of managers we could possibly buy out of their contract I think Potter would be my preferred safe bet but if I wanted to take a risk I think Vieira could be a very exciting manager to get
  5. But that is never going to happen. We are not going to go from Smith to Klopp, Poch or Pep. We are only going to get a manager that is lower down the scale then they are. Whenever Villa changes manager there is going to be risk involved and we will not know definitely the new manager will be better. But that should not stop us from sacking a manager if we believe he is not the right man for the job
  6. People were on a high because we won the games. Many commented we were poor against Everton and the high was very much aimed at Bailey's unbelievable cameo. We were lucky Konsa wasn't sent off at 0-0, then it could have been a very different result. And beating Man U at O/T was a huge high because is so rarely happens.
  7. I am not sure where u got that idea, I have been a long time supporter of Smith. However, I have questioned his ability to continue to bring us forward as our football and results have been very bad this year. Maybe you are falling into the trap many on the internet do in looking for and trying to categories people into extremes. Just because I have questioned his ability does not mean I want him sacked or don't like the guy. However, this season is just getting worse and worse now and Dean is dragging us into a relegation battle and I really do not want the risk of us going down this season. I believe that changing manager now would reduce that risk. I am not sure what your reference to European football is about. I have stated many times that I do not expect it this season however I believe it is important for the future. I have also said that I believe we should be up there competing for a Europa spot this season but not actually attaining it.
  8. People want Smith out because we have been shyte for a year and he is dragging us into a relegation battle. These people want a manager that will be better than Smith and stop the rot. It is not the the responsibility of fans to select the next manager
  9. Lower to mid table is better than Championship football and that is the form we are showing after 11 games of the season
  10. And I didn't want any other manager to Smith last year. I really wanted to see him progress forward but unfortunately he hasn't.
  11. I would like to aim higher than Potter, appointing a manager is always difficult in that we want the club to punch above their weight and get a manager that could go to a bigger club or one in a better position than we are. I am really not sure on Koeman, my gut says no but I could be flawed in that thinking
  12. Some people see that football is more than just the stats. Each club has different players and funding which impacts the ceiling a manager can reach. Some people actually look at the football that managers get their teams to play and understand what this means to the development of a club.
  13. 6th and 3 points off CL place is underperforming?
  14. When Percy weighs in on it that means it is close
  15. We wouldn't spend 350m to simply avoid relegation
  16. 20m is not enough for the main striker in a PL team. Even we have bought 2 strikers for more than that since they bought Maupay and we paid 22m for Wes at about the same time. There will always be stats to be found to try and be either positive or negative about any particular manager. Imo, the reason people like Potter is as I said above; the style of football, the organisation, the team effort. It is these non stat driven qualities that Potter demonstrates which many find very appealing.
  17. And what could happen to that team if more quality was added I wonder
  18. There is a bit more to it than that. Playing good football is the precursor to winning things. It is silly to try and compare managers on wins and points only and particularly so for Villa as we will likely not be getting an elite manager
  19. Have u watched any of their games. They play good football
  20. Having lost on Friday we needed to rely on other results not to drop into relegation this weekend.
  21. The way his teams play and how organised they are and how everyone looks like they know what they are doing
  22. The points return doesn't really make any sense without the amount of games played. I am guessing that both Smith and Potter have more points than Tuchel but that is meaningless
  23. The ultimate Karma, Dean's Norwich beat Villa and end up finishing 17th while we finish 18th
  24. Wise words. I wonder to other clubs think like that
  25. Dean will be very nervous if we beat Brighton
