  1. I would like Rogers. He has a habit of bottling it when it counts. Liverpool had the league within their grasp and they threw it away and Leicester have bottled 4th spot for the last couple os seasons EDIT: I would NOT like Rogers
  2. I expect United will go for proven elite manager when they replace Ole
  3. I think it is grasping at straws to extrapolate a discussion on a football forum to saying the CEO has made a big mistake. For some balance, we have been crap for the last year
  4. I think sadly any manager we take is likely doing it as an audition for a top 4 club. I want a manager that believes he can take us to the top 4
  5. I wonder if they need a decent striker and if they had one, how would that impact their results. Maybe if they had Ings and Watkins they would be higher up the league that 7th
  6. He is not having a good year at Hoffenheim, I am not sure what would attract us to him other than the fact he is a football manager and we are looking for a football manager
  7. He is the bookies favourite for the job at 6/4 but that doesn't really mean anything at this stage
  8. And now that Howe is going to Newcastle there will be some crazy fees paid for dross
  9. I have to admit the thoughts of a new manager are very exciting. What style of football, what formation, does he have a plan B or plan C and what will he want to do in the transfer window. Fun times ahead for a Villa fan
  10. I suspect that we are going to be in an information void for a few days. Media have no idea who we are after and are just linking us with the same names that Newcastle and Spurs were linked with. Purslow will be working to try and agree a deal with a manager and we will only get a sniff of it when it is much closer to happening. There will be a lot of frustration on VT in the coming days and complaining about NSWE and CP for not having a plan
  11. Good point and his mate is clearly recommending to him that he takes the Villa job
  12. Bringing youth through is much more financially sustainable though, it would also help us to spend our transfer budget on fewer players and thus be able to buy better quality.
  13. I agree, I expect we will get one of the 2 or 3 we are actually after. I don't think we will be in a situation where all of our preferred managers have said no and we then need a plan B
  14. I agree, the new manager must be allowed to select his own backroom and he should have zero pressure on him to retain any of the incumbents
  15. It could also be argued that Martinez' form has dipped since he joined Villa. He was excellent at Arsenal for the half season before we bought him and just won the FA Cup. So he joined us on a really good run of personal form. As we have got our coaching hands around him his form has deteriorated
  16. He is only 63/64 I think. He is young enough to get sacked before age becomes an issue We could easily get a good 5 years of management
  17. I hope so son. In life we should always aim really really high then we won't be disappointed with what we get
  18. Fonseca is clearly next level to Smith. CL football and reached knockout stages and Roma. The other two are potential
  19. I suspect that may be where the Danish manager link game from
