But you have learned that you haven't learned anything, so that means you learned something, so it wasn't a complete waste of time. Everyday is a new learning opportunity and u have nailed it today
I agree, I think Liverpool would love Gerrard to come to Villa now. Imo they would like to see him have ab out 3 years in the PL and prove himself before getting the Liverpool job. Replacing Klopp is going to be very difficult whenever the time comes
Me too. I think RM might take us down if we get him in. I would prefer Gerrard to him. RM doesn't know how to setup an defence and we badly need someone that knows this
He has done an amazing job but how is that disrespectful. We need to deal with reality and accept what is actually happening on the pitch and how poor both our football and points return have been over the last year. We are in relegation form, accepting that is not disrespectful.
On top of that we don't know our budget. Smith was on 1.5m a year, some of the managers mentioned would be on 10m/15m a year. That would be a huge step up for the club.
Clearly we can't judge him on future events now. I am judging him on what he has actually achieved. To me, sacking Dean was the right thing to do and he did it. Next task is to employ a new manager and given the success he had with recruiting Smith 3 years ago it bodes well for our next managerial appointment
And do you think he was lined up before they sacked Bruce? Toon the the rounds trying lots of different managers before they got Howe. Even at that they still haven't confirmed him as manager and still have time to mess it up
CEO and Head Coach are very different jobs. Smith has shown he is not up to the job and Purslow sacked him. That doesn't mean Smith wasn't a great appointment in the first place, he was and most people could see he wasn't the man to take Villa to the next level. That is not a negative reflection on Purslow
Very few clubs have their next manager ready to jump in. Spurs only had Conte as he went thru the interview process a few months ago when Spurs sacked their manager without having a replacement lined up. Newcastle and Norwich have yet to announce a manager. Everton tried to get lots of different managers in before Rafa. It is normally how things work when a manager is sacked
The reasons for sacking Smith and the list of names on here or in the media are not linked. We sacked Smith due to footballing reasons. The names doing the rounds are media clickbait to try and get clicks
Surely none of us know that yet. SG is unproven, just like DS was unproven. SG could be be great for us just as DS was. Personally I don't want him but he could prove to be an inspired appointment.
