To what end? Rangers are not going to sign him up to a new contract before Villa make an offer for him or make contact.

The very thing that Gerrard did at Rangers i.e. take them up and rebuild the squad is the reasoning that many people want to give DS more time. New team, new league, new player, transition period etc. Gerrard managed to overcome these issues rather quickly

I was saying that the situation that the Saints fans were in is very similar to the situation that we would be in if we appoint Gerrard. The Saints fans were wrong that time. So it is not a forgone conclusion that it is wrong to appoint Gerrard. We simply do not know. Gerrard could turn out to be a bad choice or he could turn out to be a very good choice

Yeah, got to like that. My favourite bit was the discussion on the use of subs. It was tactical. Christ, I have wanted to hear a Villa manager use subs like that for years. Normally it is just for fresh legs

If we weren't looking at other managers then Gerrard would either be our manager now or he would have ruled himself out

How can there be no ambition in appointing Gerrard when you say if we wanted a solid safe pair of hands we would go for Potter or Hasenhuttl. By not going for a safe pair of hands is by definition being ambitious. Yes it is a risk but it can't be claimed it isn't ambitious
