I would go a little further and say it was better than 'wasn't bad' before 2021. Promotion and safety were presumably Dean's targets and he delivered. Everyone is happy. I am very grateful to Dean for what he has done for Villa. But losing Jack didn't help but it highlighted again that he did not know what to do without Jack. I would have liked Potter too, I think he is very good. But I see the bit of excitement with Gerrard and I am very happy to give him full support. As regards Martinez. I am 100% with u. He would have been the worst possible manager and I am sure that he was quickly crossed off the list, that is if he ever made it onto the list. Purslow can be smug but that doesn't really change his capability to do the job of Villa CEO. He needs to increase our commercial revenue and he should be doing everything he can to achieve this. Brand value doesn't differentiate between player and manager. It is the value of the brand that Villa will benefit from through increased commercial revenue. And he will be on nothing near the salaries of those lads, they are 15m+ managers

So Howe to Newcastle, Lampard to Norwich and Gerrard to Villa. How many of these young up and coming English managers will be relegated in about 6 months time. My money is on 2 of them
