  1. I think the way clubs structure compensation is like gardening leave. So he will be entitled to the amount of money we would pay him till the expiration of his contract. If we paid him1.5m and NCFC pay him 1m then we would pick up 500k a year from us. The alternative is that he could have agreed a final separation amount with us on exit.
  2. I am not shitting on Smith at every opportunity, I am discussing Smith. Smith did a fantastic job during his time at Villa. Promotion, cup final, premiership retention and 11th, plus a few brilliant games to remember, most notably against Liverpool. I have also said that Gerrard is not my first choice and he is a risk. However, some people can't take off their 'Dean Smith is God' glasses for long enough to actually see what is posted
  3. I know the preseason wasn't ideal, but it was back in July. I am not sure why it is still being used as an excuse for our results in November
  4. There was no pivot to that professional players don't need a preseason. The point I referred to regarding professional players was in relation to the disruption of switching a game from the Saturday to the Sunday. This should have made zero difference to our preseason prep. Further, I didn't say they didn't need a preseason. Preseason is regularly used as a significant factor for Dean this season. I am questioning how much of a factor it was. We only missed one game and that was in July against Forest. BTW, I love the irony of you suggesting that I seem out of my depth on this topic
  5. Bizarre when a very rich football club and PL Champions was preparing a British record 100m purchase of one of our players. . Jack was a Villa player, they made a bid which met the release clause. Believe it or not these things take time, it is not a console game. Did you expect Villa to cancel their prearranged training in London?
  6. And you are attributing that to our poor performances? These are professional players being paid millions a year FFS.
  7. Other teams had players in Euros, Olympics and Copa too. What do u suggest we change? The club was very aware in advance of our pre season that there would be an impact from the international tournaments, which many other clubs had too. We started this season reasonable well too. We were on 10 points and top half after 6 games.
  8. We only intended to have 6. If we needed 9 that is a different issue. And you think changing a game from Saturday to Sunday was an issue and a problem for us this season?
  9. One of the games cancelled was rescheduled against another team for the following day., Are u suggesting that impacted Dean a lot? Players leaving and coming in is normal for every transfer window.
  10. There are lots of references to our pre season and how it is a significant contributing factor to Dean's results. What was so wrong with our preseason. We had our game against Forest cancelled and then the game against Sevilla was cancelled but we rescheduled and played Salernitana the following day. So is it the fact that we had a friendly game against Championship side Forest cancelled on July 28th the cause of our slump?
  11. Its not that difficult to speculate. Gerrard was Purslow's first choice, Dean wasn't. Gerrard comes into the job in a position of power with Purslow that Deano just didn't have. As with any business and any headhunting, the headhunted has a greater ability to manage up.
  12. He enters the last year of his contract in 2024. So a brake clause in 2024 sounds a little like fake news anyway
  13. If Smith never had a chance and didn't have the ability to convince the club that we needed to address certain positions in the team, he was Head Coach! then why on earth did people want to keep Smith and give him more time?
  14. If our CEO doesn't deliver then the likelihood is that NSWE would sack the CEO and employ a new one. Suggesting they may want to quit the club it an extrapolation a little too far imo
  15. I don't agree the transfer window was a disaster. If it was a disaster how does that align with the argument that Deano just needs his new players back from injury and they have only had 24 mins on the pitch together. If the window was a disaster then would it have made any difference if the players came back from injury?
  16. There were lots of reports saying 5m a year which give or take a few quid is the guts of 100k a week
  17. A slight correction. We are currently in a relegation battle, it is not something that will or may come in the future. It is here today
  18. There is an ever so slight chance that Purslow sees things differently to you. But hey, with experience at Liverpool, and Chelsea and the last 3 years at Villa plus the rest of his career I am sure he his fairly clueless. Appointing Gerrard as our gaffer is no doubt a decision with no thought behind it
  19. I think he has less experience tbh. More experience at a higher level but SG has more experience as a manager
  20. With a new manger and given where we are, I don't think the final finishing position matters too much tbh, as long as we are not relegated. I think this season he will be judged on our performances on the pitch. I think the average Villa supporter is a lot smarted than simply looking at points and will look at the progression of the team
  21. It is quite amusing the comments on VT. Before Deano was sacked there was a cohort questioning his ability to get us our of the situation we have got into. For a number of games the confidence was very high that we will win the next game, then the next game and then the next game. Unfortunately, this never happed and Deano was sacked. The comments defending Deano on his losing streak were very strong and people who questioned him got a lot of grief and were accused of not being Villa fans and shyte like that. Everyone on here is a villa fan! With our new gaffer in place the perspective has completely changed. No longer should time be given to the gaffer, he now must deliver. We all want him to succeed and will give him full support but now as opposed to giving him time and having faith in him, it is now there is no rationale in his appointment and he is the 'trophy wife' manager. Purslow played a blinder employing Deano 3 years ago and now he is bordering on incompetent and letting nepotism influence his decision making. Our wonderful owners, who haven't put a foot wrong are even been called into question. We need to move forward. Deano was brilliant but he is no longer our Gaffer. Steven Gerrard is our gaffer. He has brought a new set backroom team with him and we need to get behind him. Constantly having a pop at him and finding reasons to say we support him while having a dig at him is not very helpful. He may fail and if he does he will be sacked. But he may succeed. We don't know which. But we (should) all want him to succeed and looking for fault before he even starts the job is not a positive thing to do
  22. It will be hard not to be, we are only 2 points of the bottom 3 and have a very tough next 10 games
  23. If u re read the comments u may find some other rationale reasons
