They are happy. Came back from 0-1 down to beat Saints 2-1
-
Yep, I am with you on that. Really looking forward to the Palace game now

I think he has a few off field problems which could potentially scupper a move to any club. That said, if we were to take the risk it may be an opportunity but I can't imagine Purslow allowing any player join the club that has that type of off field distractions or reputation

I assume discipline related. Timekeeping / attitude / work ethic / training / diet / working hours.

None of us know how high his ceiling is but all the signs suggest it could be very high. This is a REALLY EXCITING time to be a Villa fan

I don't get the not convinced / jury still out reaction. There is no performance nor result that would have been able to convince any of us about SG. He had a few days with half a squad and all the players are only getting introduced to all the new coaches. We we kept a clean sheet, we scored 2 goals, we got 3 points, we looked a little more organised and everyone looked happy. Nobody is reading anything into this other than a good solid start with shoots of potential. Remember when Deano joined us, we had some mad results, including a 5-5 with Forest, before we settled down, added Mings and a few other in Jan and then went on to promotion. SG needs a little time to get his feet under the desk and then we can judge him. Lets just enjoy the ride between now and then

I was going to post exactly the same comment. It seemed to look much more obvious watching it on MOTD
-
But as you say 'the ones he does'...'become fact'. As he does them they don't become fact, they are fact. That said, he had a great game today and, for me, it was between him and Emi for MOTM until he grabbed the accolade with the goal
-
I think that is very much needed at Villa. Smith was the right man at the right time. But I think he was probably too nice and too friendly with the players to be able to drive them forward to a higher level.
-
Nakamba wasn't too bad today. I think he often gets a little hard done by in post match comments. Reading the Norwich forum and they are all crying out for a DM. I wonder would Deano come in with a loan to buy offer which could enable Gerrard to get an upgrade
-
0-0 organised dross. Not something we are used to
-
Yeah, I liked him stressing how important the next few coaching sessions are.
-
The goals were a real bonus, it was the solid performance that I was happy with. It wasn't great by any means but it was mostly organised. They are very good on the ball and we need to improve our possession and our press but I think the players did what Gerrard asked of them. I think he will be happy with that and I think the clean sheet and 3 points is a great confidence booster for the team. Really looking forward to seeing more of the same organisation against Palace .

And where do you know that Villa from?
-
So on MOTD tonight, will there be more screen time of SG's post match interview than actual game time?
-
Brilliant result and a solid first game for Gerrard
-
Buendia is the one that interests me most. But yes, will be interesting to see Ings and Ollie and if one will start on the bench
-
3-5-2 with Watkins and Ings upfront and Young in the middle
-
Maybe just the first bit
-
Maybe time for new centre backs

Chop chop! Lets all gawp at Newcastle (again)

https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/latest-news/eddie-howe-tests-positive-for-covid-19/ So they have now put 2 men in charge of the game with Eddie missing. That sounds like Amanda is trying to make a bad situation worse. -

I know, I shouldn't joke about it but it is so typical Newcastle. Still no manager for their next game. If Deano gets his first win and managerless Toon lose again then Toon will be bottom LOL -
Get you. I think that will wear off after a while. I also think Gerrard will ignore it and if asked about it over and over he will just tell the journo to shut he **** up
-
Why let it frustrate you. It is an audition. Gerrard will leave Villa for Liverpool if he is offered the Liverpool job. It he does really well with Villa then that scenario is very likely to happen. So, Gerrard is using us as a stepping stone and his time with us is an audition for the Liverpool job. Don't beat yourself up about it. Accept it and move and and enjoy today as opposed to worrying about tomorrow
