I agree it is offside but I think it is ridiculous from a big picture perspective. A player doesn't plan to be a pubic hair width offside. There is no intent and no material advantage. In the interest of the game of football the goal should be given. But we are now following the rules to a anal degree of accuracy and it is ruining the game. Both goals should have been allowed but the rules dictate otherwise. It is ridiculous that we need technology and measure things to a degree the naked eye cannot see. There should be a margin of error given to the attacking team to allow these goals in. More goals, more attacking play, more risk taking by strikers and more entertainment for the fans

Its not VAR that is the problem, the VAR is following the rules. Its the rules that are ridiculous. Being a toenail off side against a player yards away from u is daft. They should add a margin of error to favour the attacking team and allow goals like that. It is not a conspiracy to protect the top 6, they get goals ruled off isde too

Would that mean that the ball is 'in control' except when it is a shot or a rebound. So for the Ramsey disallowed goal it would have been counted if it was a shot or a rebound. Given Cash's crossing in the game before the disallowed goal then I am sure we could argue that Cash was shooting as opposed to scoring

Tro, I don't believe the ball was a rebound or from a save. It was a cross from Cash into the box.

The ball could be moving or theoretically the 'hard surface' could be anything, even the opposition striker's dick if he had a hard on.

It may be that people are assuming an intent that is not part of the rules. The definition of 'in control' is very clear. If the definitions need to be changed that is different but the rules were correctly applied to disallow the goal

The rules do not specify a duration of time he needs to be in contact with the ball. As per the rules the goal was correctly disallowed

The nature of having scheduled transfer windows forces clubs to do business at a time that may not necessarily suit them. But I would be against lots of transfers before the players have had a chance to prove their worth in the system that the manager wants to play. Nakamba is the prime example of this. Before Gerrard, the general consensus of Nakamba was that he was a Championship standard player. But many think he was MOTM or closely running for MOTM for each of our games. And just about everyone wanted him to start against City. Offloading players before they have had a fair crack at the job can be very costly and can be something the club goes on to regret

Surely the next task for Gerrard is to implement his style and tactics ahead of transfers?

I agree. It will take a bit of time. But I am enjoying the progress I am seeing and it is currently pointing in the right direction. Gerrard looks to be getting us to play football the way I personally like to see t played. I just hope he continues with this and doesn’t change to a safer option over time

Yeah, the 2nd half was a joy to watch. The most enjoyable loss I have ever seen. Leicester are there for the taking, and not just a scrappy 1-0, we could actually turn them over comfortably. I too would like a strong league showing but the performance last night suggested we could beat anyone on our day. Extrapolating that logic a little suggests we could win the FA Cup this season. That would be silverware and a Europa place. I would LOVE that

If Gerrard can continue to put a Villa team out with this type of performance we will be doing very well. I can't see us dropping points against Leicester. The FA cup this year may be a very enjoyable journey
