  1. Maybe that is because Gerrard spent 20 years at Liverpool and was their club captain. It stands to reason that this would give Gerrard a significant advantage over other candidates
  2. If he is only doing an average job with us I would hope Purslow would sack him. We do not want average at Villa, we want the best
  3. And he is an Arsenal fan. 80m/100m for Ollie and give that to SG along with whatever other budget we have
  4. In the thread on here about who will be the first PL manager sacked I voted for Arteta It is really annoying seeing them improve. They were a team I was targeting us finishing ahead of
  5. He has Arsenal in 4th and nobody gave him a chance of that. I get where u are coming from but I think he is definitely getting better at the job and I wouldn't rule him out from being quite successful with Arsenal in the coming years
  6. I agree, he looks like a man that wants out. That could really derail Leeds this season
  7. If Liverpool can get 22m for Rhian Brewster then I reckon Cutis Jones would be valued at 50m+
  8. Yes it was a major medical incident but it is one which a person can recover completely from and have zero side effects from. He is already back in training.
  9. Most managers will see the opposition teams adapt over time. it is to be expected as opposing teams will analyse our play. Look at Smith, the first couple of years were great and the last year was very poor. When other teams adapt to how SG plays, we will then see how good a manager Gerrard actually is. If he can continue to evolve Villa and change things around so that we do not become predicable then we will have struck gold with him. I have no idea whether he will be able to but I really hope he can
  10. What sort of money is Hause worth? Is he 2m or nearer 10m. Transfer fees for a player with PL experience tend to command a few quid. I know his contract is up in June but TransferMarket says we have a 1 year option on that so we can extend till 2023
  11. I can't see Burnley selling him to Toon in Jan. It would very much increase the chances of Toon surviving at the expense of Burnley. I think Burnley would be better off letting his contract run down
  12. Norwich already have Gilmour and Williams on loan from Chelsea and Man Utd, they are not allowed any more PL loans. It wouldn't surprise me to see him come in for Hause. But would Hause want to got to a manager that didn't play him? Theer is talk that Forest are interested in Hause EDIT: Apologies, I see this was already posted
  13. He is back training. It is not like he had a heart attack, it stopped beating. It is an electrical problem as opposed to a mechanical problem. There is nothing stopping him being an elite athlete again
  14. I am not sure but with all the talk about Italy not allowing it and that he would need to play in a different country made be think that if it wasn't allowed on England it would have been mentioned by some media outlet
  15. Christian Eriksen is available on a free transfer. He would add some quality and experience
  16. I haven't seen it used in football transfers either. I am not US nor live there but I worked for a US company for the last 20 years and I have found myself writing MM for million by default as I am used to it in the day job. I do refuse to write color or neighbor though
  17. Ryan Sessegnon is a LB I would like to take a chance on. He was brilliant at Fulham and didn't get a look in at Spurs, although Conte has played him recently. He is still only 21.
  18. MM is what they use for Million in the US, particularly in business & accounting. It comes from Roman numerals where M is a thousand and therefore MM is one thousand thousands which is a million
  19. That is good news, we do need LB cover. The really interesting thing is whether we bring in a LB to be cover for Targett or do we bring in a 1st 11 starter that will compete with Targett for the shirt
  20. I completely agree, if SG wants Aribo then he should be supported in getting him and fans should give Aribo a fair crack at the whip. My opinion on Aribo is that he is a good player but I just don't see anything that would make me want to bring him to Villa as he can't keep just adding players to the squad, some must leave to make room for the new players. I don't see who Aribo would replace in the 1st team, if he was 3 or 4 years younger I could understand it but at 25 he would need to be getting into the starting 11 for me to want to see him come to Villa
  21. Who would he be an upgrade on though. I hope we are past the stage of buying squad players and that all new player will be competing immediately for 1st 11 football (bar a new GK). We have lots of good players and I hope to see SG bringing in higher calibre than what we have or a 19/20/21 year old with masses of potential for about 25m. I don't see Aribo as the type of player we should be going for
  22. I think u need to have another look at the games we played since the start of the year. We have been really poor all year, it is not something new that just appeared. The new thing that appeared is that we went from being very poor to being dog muck that couldn't get a point from a game.
  23. We should have gone all out and paid whatever necessary to get Klopp or Pep, we would probably be looking at winning the PL this season if we had
