  1. The worst case scenario for a loan signing is that he does play, he doesn't positively influence our finishing position and he takes valuable minutes from one of our players or a youth player getting an opportunity to make the step up So you don’t trust Gerrard to play the right players? That reply is just stupid as there is nothing in what I said to suggest that. Try playing the ball and not the player. Good night, no point in continuing this discussion
  2. We have only played 7 games under this manager. It is clearly very different to the games under the previous manager. P7W4. the losses against City, Liverpool and Chelsea. We need to give Gerrard time with these players and equally we need to give our players time with Gerrard. It would be counterproductive to add a loan player in during Jan which would possibly put the brakes on the development of our players. We have enough attacking players even taking the AFCON into account to see us through to the summer. The focus should be in FB and CB. Ideally we could get Axel back to Utd and put our time and effort into a Villa player and bring in much needed backup for Targett. 3. Yet is the key word. If you believe it is a 'yet' then why would we want to get a loan player in which would only reduce the playing time of one of our players, that is with the massive assumption that a loan player would hit the ground running
  4. Years of watching football and the transfer market and seeing how long players take to adjust to a new club. Also, having an understanding of the Jan transfer window helps and appreciating that clubs do not like to sell their better players and in particular, attacking players are very difficult to buy or loan. To think we can enter the loan market and get attacking players that are better than either Ollie or Ings and that we can attract them to Villa and they will settle in and hit the ground running is fantasy stuff
  5. We have Ings, Ollie, Buendia, Bailey plus other attacking options and can promote Archer and bring back Wes if we want. Gerrard needs to work with what he has and show he can get them functioning properly and not be running to the cookie jar.
  6. There is no chance of getting an attacking loan player that is fit, up to speed and can slot into our team immediately
  7. It would make sense to give Bailey an opportunity to play and also see how Ings and Oliie adapt to Gerrard's style of play. He has only been at Villa for 7 games. If we were to buy more attacking players how long would we give them before writing them off? End of Jan / mid Feb?
  8. I don't think he bottled it, Mings just isn't good enough against the better strikers and better play. He has his level
  9. Looks like the Zoom connection didn't work for Gerrard to dial in for the half time team talk
  10. Good first half. We are playing well. |Hopefully the Zoom team talk works
  11. Targett looking much more like the player last season than the one at the start of this season
  12. He looked really good when he played against Chelsea last time but unfortunately got injured, hopefully we will prove himself today
  13. Sky today for this one as opposed to Amazon
  14. I don't think Brighton do wiins
  15. Is it great minds think alike or fools seldom differ?
  16. He needed to beat Toon when they played them to have a chance and they were up against 10 men for over half the game. They would be level with Watford now if they hadn't messed up that game. I agree, they do look doomed now
  17. I agree, If there is ever an opportunity to strengthen and we have the cash and it is within FFP we should do it. This will give Purslow the continuous improvement he said he wanted. Furthermore, each place higher we can finish in the league is worth about 3.6m.
  18. You have to say that Arteta is a cut above the other two though
  19. I agree, we may be looking for better quality in a year's time but extending his contract gives us much needed backup without forcing us into the market. We can then hopefully invest in a 6 and a LB before replacing Hause
  20. Surely that depends on what the squad is like when Klopp leaves. Liverpool has a lot of high profile players in their late twenties. If they do not have replacements coming through for thee players in the next few years then Liverpool will have no choice but to accept a rebuild regardless who their next manager may be
  21. We have an option to extend his contract by a year
  22. If any manager leaves Villa for a job with a bigger club the same applies, there is nothing unique to Gerrard with that.
