  1. I suggested that a couple of weeks ago, got shot down on here by a few for talking shyte due to his health issue at the Euros. I think it could be an inspired signing. He is still the same footballer and would add so much to our squad
  2. I didn't notice that (Good spot), but it appears they signed him last July on a Free and sent him out on loan
  3. https://www.skysports.com/football/transfer-deals This is the list of completed deals by Sky. In my experience this is bang on accurate.
  4. It is actually 4 years we have for the Jack money to impact our FFP, it was extended by a year due to Covid, last year and this year are averaged and used as a single year for the 3 year FFP calculations. Also, as Jack was a a home grown player there is 19% tax to be taken from the 100m transfer fee when looking at the impact of Jack's 100m sale. The net impact of Jack is 81m profit which is used for FFP calculations over a 4 year accounting period
  5. You are probably right. He is a player I would like to sign. Could u imagine the neighbours seeing him in claret & blue
  6. I agree and I think that goes down to our manager. This is not a Deano bash but it is critical of him. I think his lack of experience at PL level helped put us in this position. In the Championship he was able to win games by outscoring the opposition. We had Jack and Tammy and a fairly decent squad team behind them. We simply didn't need the strong DM or very disciplined back 4/5 in order to win games and gain promotion. This philosophy carried on to the PL. But the PL is at such a higher level to the Championship that it didn't work. This is why, imo, we looked brilliant on some days and like dog shyte on other days. If a team let us play against them and if we were in form we looked like Barcelona. But against disciplined teams we often came unstuck. I believe this is reflected in why we lost so many games to teams we 'expected' to beat. We still have the hangover of that philosophy and Gerrard needs to fix that which means improving the quality of our defence and CDM and also learning to play with much more discipline
  7. just wait till we submit the 75m bid for Bellingham, the thread will be buzzing then
  8. I think the new 'bargains' are to be found in 19 to 21 year olds that cost about 25m to 40m. That's the area we need to be looking at imo
  9. Marv's injury was so unlucky with the timing. Its a very difficult task getting the right players in but they tend to get better with length of time at the club. They need the bedding in period, this is why I would like to see us buy players in Jan. But with the caveat that we do not compromise on quality. If the right player is not available then we should not buy none. If we have a serious injury issue and need to get a player in to fill a position because we have no alternatives then we should get a loan player or play a 17 year old rather than buy the wrong player
  10. Just because Sanson got injured doesn't mean every player we buy will get injured. We need to be realistic in that not every player we buy will work out but that doesn't change the fact that we should have the correct approach to buying players
  11. But if we get the player in now then we have a full half a season for him to get used to Villa, moving house (most likely) and learning the Gerrard way. This would put us in a much stronger position starting next season compared to getting the new player(s) in during July/Aug. I think deliberately delaying the purchase of a player is the wrong approach, if we have the funds available and it fits into the correct accounting window for FFP then we should get the player as soon as they become available
  12. I think he said that he did know and that we will try and get it in Jan and if we can't we won't buy numbers and will wait till summer. yes, that is a major paraphrase by me
  13. Great minds think alike but no doubt fools seldom differ is probably more appropriate in this case
  14. And the same for every player we ever buy from now on. We have the squad, we have the numbers. It is now about quality and current 1st team player should gradually become our bench players. With our blossoming youth setup and the correct transfer strategy that is what will get us into Europe
  15. I wouldn't like the LB or CB to be backup to Targett and Konsa/Mings. They should be coming in with the intent of taking the 1st 11 shirt. Backups would be a backward / stagnation step for me
  16. Lukaku up front and Rice as CDM. 200m and 500k a week and we are sorted
  17. I would say that a random number generator was used by a Spurs fan to come up with that load of shyte
  18. That maybe true but Hourihane was bought when we were in the Championship and he was a 1st team player and he helped us win promotion. Wes got an injury that kept him out of the game for over a year and the jury is still out on whether he can recover to play as a professional footballer again and Guilbert was only about 4m and hopefully he gets a chance under Gerrard, he is playing well in France
  19. I think we would make an accounting profit on all of our players. We need to extend Luiz' contract, I can see him selling for 25m/30m
  20. Didn't Durie get charged with misconduct by the FA for feigning injury at Spurs years ago? I think he was the first (and maybe only) player to be done for feigning injury. If u are done for misconduct then I am guessing u can be fined Edit: Bloody hell, I just looked it up and it was 1992, that is 30 years ago. I feel ancient
  21. Trez, I dont think so. Traore, I had forgotten about him but I can't see us getting much less that 17m, he has massive talent and could do very well in the right team. I don't think high press suits him, he would be more suited to Italy imo. AEG was only about 6m, I think we would get 10m+ for him now. We paid a loan fee first for AEG which also covered his wages while on loan. I think the price we bought him for was 5.75m
  22. It would be some bit of business to buy Ings in Aug for 25m and sell him in Jan for 50m. . They could give him a 4 yr 150k a week contract I am sure.
  23. Yeah, maybe you are right but my comment would be saying we are making a profit on all of our players expect the two that had serious injury. Reading the comments on her and it appears we need a complete rebuild and our squad is shyte. How can that be if we spend 350m on players and they have all gone up in value
  24. It always helps with confidence when the person is completely financially independent and doesn't need the job. Gerrard is working at Villa for one reason only and that is because he wants to work. If the job ever becomes a pain in the arse for him or he stops enjoying it he can simply walk. Purslow will have to put more effort into keeping SG happy than he did with Smith. This should give Gerrard a stronger voice
