  1. You can't realistically expect us to out spend the likes of City, United, Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea. We are where we are. Investing in youth, long-term strategy. Be positive.
  2. Emi Martinez claims that Grealish is just like right-footed Messi.
  3. We are done ladies and gentlemen. Strap in and get ready for the season.
  4. Just to add to that, he also got them new stadium that is regarded as the best in the land. They also won a trophy under him (League Cup) while teams like Villa and Everton, that were of similar statue to Spurs when he took over, failed to win anything this century.
  5. That's quite funny actually. I'm not sure he tried to be funny there, but Pep dishes out some funny comments sometimes. Like the one on Stan Collymore https://youtu.be/PSqMsG_MwRA
  6. Not trying to paint any narrative. I only posted it as I found it interesting. Usually you only get positive comments from staff/team members even if the reality is different. For some reason JG couldn’t bring himself to praise Wesley. Stark contrast to his interview just after Watkins joined, where JG was full of praise for how good he is.
  7. I remember interview with JG 2 years ago, after Wesley joined. He was asked about Wesley, if he showed in training yet how good a player he is after signing for a record £22m. Usually you get all the praises saying what a good player the new signing is. Yet JG just said he showed "few flashes". That means he didn't impress anybody in training. JG also mentioned that Wesley was always grumpy in training.
  8. Well, if he was as good as you describing clubs would be lining up to buy him from us. I don't see anybody queuing outside offering us any decent money for him right now, so what is it? Are all the scouts in Europe blind to the talent you describing?
  9. According to the bits of information available out there Barkley loan was £11m (including wages) and Tuanzebe is £5m (also including wages). That explains why Smith felf obliged to play Barkley even when he was clearly not fit and useless.
  10. Do you think it's a coincidence that we see this kind of AEG against Barrow but not in the Premier league?
  11. It’s not about the ability. It’s about Reputation. Ancelloti might have the same ability as Smith, but Smith won’t attract player like James Rodriguez for example ( who turned out to be shit, but you get my point ).
  12. Apart from the wages, West ham are not keen on big wages and the manager is not renown for success internationally either
  13. It's not just the lack of European football (which is important in itself) You have things like wages Spurs could offer , location (players like London more then Brum for some reason), managers international reputation ( which Smith has none). Many things are stacked against us.
  14. I wouldn't be surprised. It's a big step down from Juventus to midtable team.
  15. 3 8's? That's a new idea, didn't see it on VT yet. How would that look?
  16. Still doesn't solve our DM issue that people believe is our biggest hole
  17. This summer, Chelsea sold academy graduates Tammy Abraham (Roma, £35m), Fiyako Tomori (AC Milan, £25m), Marc Guehi ( Crystal Palace, £25m) and Valentino Livramento ( Southampton, £5m).They also have buyback clauses in the contracts of several of those players. This is the potential that well run academy gives you. Hopefully one day we will come somewhere close to it. Fringe players sold for good bucks.
  18. You can get excellent value for £17m if you spend it wisely. Bertrand Traore and Emi Martinez cost about £17m for example. Traore is definitely a better player than Elghazi, I don't have to explain what Emi brings. Actually half of our starting eleven cost less or around £17m (Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Targett, Luiz, Mcginn). Back in real life, I don't see anybody actually paying £17m for him in this market, it's all just rumours.
  19. There's that as well. But that goes without saying
  20. How he treats players? What do you mean? he gives them contracts, pays them good money and expects them to honour the contract. he never talks to the media circus. how he treats fans? Like paying customers, No better or worse than most other football directors.
  21. Well, Wes had 5 minutes. He will see maybe 5,10 minutes here and there but not much. That was what I meant.
  22. This is really interesting. I was wondering how is it possible that Bielsas teams always have running metrics of the charts. It can't be down to the players as he always replicates it at all clubs he manages. Is it just down to his training methods? Surely he is around for long enough now for other teams and coaches to be able to replicate the methods he is using. Obviously it's just pure speculation on my part, but it always puzzled me. https://twitter.com/peterrutzler/status/1395635374236569602?s=21
  23. Just another way of generating income from your fans. BTW, villa are on Socios bandwagon as well now, joined this month.
  24. If you look at it from selfish Villa's perspective only, It would weakened them this season, but £150m for 28 year old would make them potentially stronger longer term. And we need to look longer term if we really want to compete with team like Spurs. Outside of Villaverse I think it's good for footbal in general.
  25. Good to see a club not being held to ransom by player and City demands. We should all applaud Spurs for that.
