He is an elite passer, based on his last 4 seasons stats as well as reports from many repuatable Serie A stats gurus and pundits who watch him play.

He is listed as having strong passing on nearly all well known football stats sites as well.

I am not claiming to be an expert on the player, I have only seen him in CL games and last night, but cutting and pasting two or 3 extracts from a forum to suit your agenda is a little silly.

    The guy can clearly pass.

Look at that passes into penalty area stat though, not interested!!!

The sell on fee isn't our issue. That's Juve. He's only worth what will pay full stop, where the money goes after we buy him isn't relevant to villa. If Juve want more because of the clause then **** it move onto another option.

    Back on the Bissouma bus!

Got no numbers on Pirlo but 12.1% of Luiz's attempted passes this season are from dead ball situations, compared to 1.6% of Bentancur's.

But are those attempted passes aesthetically pleasing to the fans?

    Nah I'm joking, interesting info!

Possibly need to factor set pieces into those kind of numbers, same with comparing Bentancur and Luiz. Guessing Bentancur's passing numbers are are not being brought down by taking corners and free kicks in forward areas, where Luiz and Pirlo's numbers are presumably affected by this to some degree.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, I'm not claiming its a complete statistical analysis, pirlo probably attempted more long passes for example

    This is the thing,
Juventus fans are giving their opinions from their eyes.
Villa analytics accounts are giving their opinion from comparing fbref stats without ever seeing the player actually play. This guy below for example.

It's pass accuracy, it's a tangible, measurable metric, what are you even talking about?

  6. According to fbref, bentancur has a pass completion % of 87.7, whereas Andrea Pirlo had 87% in the 11/12 season for juventus which rose to 89% the season after. I don't have the full figures on pass distance but I'm hoping Andrea was also held to account for awful pass accuracy

I think the question is: Is Rodrigo Bentancur willing to join a midtable Aston Villa?

Apparently Stevie G and Lampard were his idols growing up according to a quote from 2 years ago

Poor game from both teams, mistakes at crucial moments, bad decisions. It's cold enough down here outside of rome so it must be **** baltic up there.

Will be decided by whichever team manages to put some quality together by the look of it. Don't get why Bentancur is getting criticised he' playing next to Locatelli and looking the better player tonight.

Hes getting criticised because people made their mind up before the game and don't want to backtrack

Let’s be honest if we weren’t linked to him and were watching this game there is no way anyone would think, I wish we would sign this kid.

Same could be said of locatelli and he's one of the highest rated youngsters in world football, probably why it's not a good idea to judge a player off of one game

According to Simon Dobson on Twitter (a football journalist with 33.4K followers)

“Bissouma is Aston Villa’s number one target after Digne. Gerrard wants him as soon as possible and believes he would improve the team massively. Brighton convinced he isn’t leaving but every player has a price.”

So our number 2 target?  🤣

Jas, balancing the books and the squad is common sense. It’s hardly being ruthless as we are not casting the out on the streets without a bean to their name.

we need to be a bit more mature about our attitude to former players. As a crowd , we seem more spiteful than most in them welcoming back. A few deserve a less than warm reception but most did their best for us.

Trez is the sort of player where there will be days when we would want his hard work and defensive protection on the right. The disgraceful dive apart, he has been solid team contributor who has chipped in with vital goals and assists as we “stabilized”. Very unlucky with injuries.

If we can improve on him, great and we do need make decisions on which of the 4 wide players we should move on. Looks like AEG first  but Traore and Bailey whist being the most eye catching seem fragile.

    Exciting times ahead. UTV

We should always be able to get £10m+ from the likes of galatasaray/fenerbache for trez too

Literally one low tier Spanish newspaper said it, repeated by another and a Spurs fan tweet account mentioned it.  No credible person has said it, even disputed it on the original tweet (Sky dude), we have seen it no where else.  It’s a BS rumour, making very little sense and not mention by anything or anybody even half credible.

Added to that we don’t know what or how the buy option works.  From just a fee agreed which we can convert but need to agree terms with Coutinho to terms agreed with Barca and Coutinho and only us convert at our option.  We have no details apart from a “buy option” which is a little ambiguous.

Agreed, sounds like bullshit to me

Why would spurs have anything to do with it? People are suggesting that we went to those lengths to negotiate a deal just for Barcelona to agree it with someone else. Seriously?

    Finally some sense!

What's supposed to have happened; Daniel Levy just dialled in on zoom "yeah lads if villa don't take him, I'll have second dibs, how does that sound?"
