Is that really your take away from that tweet?
With regards to the overall picture it’s hard to feel sorry for the other leagues, they all prioritised the top 2/3 teams and led with those as the brands rather than the league itself

Thought the rumoured fee for Ounahi was £39m? Seems similar fees
Athletic reporting closer to £20m, Napoli offered about 15m euros

Gab mentioned Marseille may be interested in Ounahi, so they could snap him up as a replacement at about 2/3 of the price if we buy Guendouzi

Ounahi.
Ways to express cynical world view:
If cheap. 'He could be the next Tonev.'
If a bit more expensive. 'He could be the next Trezeguet.'
Because he's skinny. 'He could be the next that skinny kid who plays in the playground and gets bullied by other kids.'
Other ways to complain:
'I hadn't heard about him before the world cup, and sometimes players don't do well after world cups, so he could be the next Paborsky.'
Try to fit in a, 'I'm all for us trying to find hidden gems, but I want to have heard of them, and they need to all look like prime Ronaldo in a YouTube video.'
Sprinkle a little, 'But can he make a difference now. I want us to recruit like Brighton, but they also need to be ready now and not over time like Brighton.'
Add a touch of, 'This shows we have no money. Otherwise we'd be bidding for some imaginary, well-known, top-tier 24 year old finished product that only we discovered—but if we did do that, we should only do if for a bargain price otherwise it shows how desperate we are.'
I don’t think he will be cheap is the only thing

I hope not. He's always looked very "meh" to me.
Agree with this, outshone by Tyler Adams at the World Cup and I don’t think he’s anything special either, good work rate though

I’m suspecting he will be on the bench for Southampton. Sounds like we have recalled him from international duty.
It’s not clear but it sounds like he may go back for the knock out rounds of the U20’s

Why? I'm listening to podcast interviewing English guy who is South American football journalist and he speaks very highly of Duran
Which podcast is this?

Two minutes of some randomer's YouTube video and that's all we need to write off a clearly highly rated young kid from Colombia who's been linked to plenty of big clubs.
Classic Villa

Ok you are right. Because Chelsea throw money around all over the shop, we should never buy any proven strikers. You win. We dont need a striker. I was wrong.
I'll bow out of this thread now.
You directly compared our striker purchasing strategy with Chelsea's, not sure why i'm wrong for questioning it...

Why would you pick 2 strikers that have failed? So you are saying that every proven player we ever buy will fail like they did? Ok then.
Name me Chelsea's last successful out and out striker purchase then...

The problem is, we are desperate for the finished article in order to get into the top half. Do you think the likes of Newcastle, Chelsea or Spurs will be buying such players?
This signing worries me in so many ways. It just looks like we either have no money to compete, no desire to compete or that we are screwed with FFP. Whichever it is, it doesn't bode well.
I agree with this, i'm absolutely fuming we haven't signed Chris Wood or Aubameyang if i'm honest

Wonder if we’ve had this agreed since when archer went out on loan and have been waiting for work permits etc.

Wow.
That's me done with work for the rest of the day. I'll be watching plenty of YouTube videos, in between slating Buendia in his thread.
Haha this is getting in the way of both your full time jobs

This is a midfield that without the addition of Kamara has struggled to keep Villa in the Premiership in recent times and got no-where near where the owners want to be.
Imagine supporting two football teams and simultaneously knowing nothing about the game

After spending so much time and wasting so much money the last 4/5 transfer windows trying to chase big name big wages high value players (Krzysztof Piatek, Smith-Rowe, Ward Prowse, Phillips, Bisoumma, De Arrascaeta, Gerrard, Digne, Coutinho) Its actually refreshing we actually going back in signing hidden gems, high potential players that fit the actual system. Buy Low Sell High.

Does anyone remember the performance he put in against Man City for MK(?), even Man City fans were absolutely raving about it

I am happy to loan players put but I think it's good to keep 1 or 2 around the squad that can play if needed. I think we really just had Archer in the 1st half of the season
Yeah don’t get me wrong, I think we’ve made a mistake with him this season. I would’ve loved to see him feature more tbh

Well you compared Feeney to Caicedo
Ecuador qualifying for the World Cup is a lot more difficult than most of the qualifiers
We sent Barry and now Archer out on loan while Brighton play them a team above us both are older than Ferguson
Haha I just picked any exotic sounding name tbf, it wasn’t meant as a direct comparison.
Yeah true, I think club expectation feeds into it a little and I’m still not sure around the benefits of loaning vs. Retaining also.
Let’s agree to somewhat disagree as I think we are getting off topic

This would be an exciting signing.
But I will wait until a tier 1 confirms interest first like Percy, Lyric or Tom CollomosseSnuck lyric in there like we wouldn’t notice

Caicedo has also played in the World Cup and 20 or so Premier League games
They also had an 18 year old score in his last 2 games for them
He also happens to have 4 years on Feeney and plays for Ecuador.
Aaron Connolly burst onto the scene as a young striker for Brighton a few years back too, what’s he up to? -

Always amused how some erase our excellent academy prospects and those out on loan to big up Brighton instead
Josh Feeney just doesn’t sound as interesting as Moises caicedo unfortunately

According to Goal.com he has a release clause of €30 million. Not sure I can see us investing that in him.
If Emery wants him we would, at 19 should have resale value anyway

If we were to sell Ings for £15m and buy someone like Moffi for £25m, I’d see that as good strategy in the longer term
