Just because the media says he’s our number one target doesn’t make it true. Full confidence in Unai and the board to bring in the names we need. It’s not a knock on our ambitions.

Transfer window is ruined mate, haven’t you heard?

Rice, Bellingham and JJ would be a great midfield 3, I just can’t see Southgate doing that

Southgate will be gone soon enough

Lesson is just because someone tweets in a different language doesn’t stop them being a BS clickbait merchant. Nobody knows.

but he used two flame emoji's?? if that's not legitimacy I don't know what is!

I came across this, this account rank teams based off the business side of things I think (no clue how they work this out).

i'd love to know how West Ham are valued at almost double what we are, especially as they don't even have a stadium

His expertise on FFP saved us also. Made us a far more viable club. I respect him for wanting to step away if the other role wasn’t to his taste. Best of luck, Christian.

    Hopefully we don't miss this

I think I remember catching a bit of grief for even suggesting this thought in January, but here I go again: I hope our recruitment team is extremely disciplined and selfish about guarding information and closing down leaks. ("Of course they are!" were the replies I think I recall from the last window.)

I think we'll always do better when we can cement deals out of the scrutiny of the twitterverse, and the press, and fan forums, and as excited as I am about reading all the various rumours, I still remain convinced that some of the best potential deals aren't ones anyone but a tiny core of recruiters and Emery etc. know about. Maybe that's a naive thought in 2023. But I'm hoping there will be some total under-the-radar ****-ing amazing surprises. Indeed, I'm counting on it.

But again, we can be as secretive as we want, Spanish and French clubs in particular leak like a sieve

Why didn't they then? He's been available for two years, no one paid anything for him because it's too big a risk as he is absolutely spent.

lets see how he fairs for a big club under a proper manager

  8. Even if we are paying him £200k/week (i imagine it would be more of a big signing on fee to not blow our wage structure) the deal over 4 years still only amounts to just over £40m, which someone would have probably paid for him as a fee last summer

  9. Apologies if this has been posted already but an interesting watch...

Seems to indicate this season he's been playing as more of a 6 rather than an 8 so could explain why he's been poor (sounds very similar to Dougie)

He's been available on a free for everyone outside of the PL since 1st Jan and for the PL since 1st June (?)

The whole "approach soon" stuff is bullshit, if we were genuinely interested we'd have bumped in to his agent at a brum restaurant months ago

I'd definitely take him though, think he'd give proper competition to our midfield and we can use another one, Emery + that non guarantee of starting we should get the best out of him, if that fails we should still be able to shift him for double digits

Maybe we feel we can offer a lower wage if he's a bit more desperate for a club

I have said for a while that I think part of Tyrone's "problem" was that he got distracted worrying about what everyone else is doing and that he'd be better as the junior partner in a CB pairing - which is why I was excited about Carlos arriving.  But Emery and his team do seem to have got the whole defence better drilled so that they are all working together and Tyrone is doing less "directing" and can focus more on his own game.  With better options available for the quick pass into the CMs too - he's not having to search out a pass all the time too.

He's been brilliant in recent matches - you can see why the Liverpool players were trying to make such a big deal out of the yellow / red card issue as they couldn't get a halfpenny off him.

Pretty sure Ty actually alluded to this when talking about what he and Emery discussed when Unai first arrived!

Agree with the point about CMs too

the fact that our inquiry went so public immediately gave off the impression that his agent is trying to get him a move to someone else. we do things privately. call me a pessimist, but i never had confidence in this one going through.

hopefully other irons in the fire...nice to see we're being ambitious with our targets though

We do things privately when dealing with clubs in England, stuff abroad almost always leaks beforehand because of the foreign press

Only info as posted yesterday was that PSG were pushing hard and that we felt we had " done enough " to get it done.

At the end of the day, only so much we can do.

If it doesn't happen we move on, good to see the level/quality of intent.

Annoying thing is that, under normal circumstances, for a player like him you probably have to pay big money in transfer ffs.

If it's true that PSG Chairman is directly involved and laying on the charm offensive then yeah it's difficult to beat.

PSG deals usually come with a load of other side benefits like commercial deals in Qatar for the players etc etc and all the other obvious " Gifts "

I wonder if Nassef has been involved with this?

Yeah no worries, appreciate you sharing the info

Getting ready for the 'why are always used by agents to get a better deal/move etc, etc, blah, blah' 🙄....

We tried to sign a top calibre player who is probably out of our reach at present...he chose to go elsewhere. That's it....no agendas by anyone...move on.

The fact we are even in the coversation for these level of players is, for me, the biggest indicator of how much we have progressed as a club.

Bring it on 🙂 and enjoy the Summer ride.

Mendes and Nassef have a good relationship by all accounts, which makes these posters look even more silly
