He's said on a Mings AVFC Instagram post "We eagerly await your return".

He also regularly interacts randomly with fans on social media.

    Top guy.

Given the fact that some of those interactions take place when he’s actually on the pitch, I think there may be the slightest chance someone else has control of his social media.

That said, him, Pau and Moreno all seem to be loving life at Villa and really enthusiastically engage with fans which is great.

I didn't think he had a bad game.

Obviously I can never be trusted again.

I like him and don’t think he has warranted quite the grief he has got on social media after this but he didn’t have a good game and he looks a level below everyone else on the pitch. He’s probably the only player that Emery hasn’t been able to improve.

If you can’t win it, don’t lose it, we did that. It does feel like a huge missed opportunity and punch in the gut though. I kind of think that we should have treated it like a normal game, the whole lights show thing and expectation could have weighed on the players a bit. We need to act like we belong at this end of the table and just treat each game as a normal premier league game

To be fair, it’s the media and fans who hyped us up all week more than ever before. I think Emery was desperate for it to be treated as a normal game. Even so, I don’t think the result would have been different, Wilder knew his game plan and they executed it well.

I mean, Ramsey was absolutely impeding Foderingham there as he was holding the arm that he would have used to punch the ball away.

The iffy part about that is the phase of play stuff, and I won't pretend like I know how that works. But my gut tells me if there was a foul leading up to the goal, the goal shouldn't stand.

The penalty decision was the one I had an issue with. They tried to claim shoulder when he obviously pushed it back with his arm. They also didn't make the ref check it out, as if they were certain. Dude really volleyed that back with his arm. I was thinking they were going to use the shirt line thing, but they really said shoulder. That was terrible.

I was also scared during the Duran incident. When they started reviewing it I thought VAR had finally lost the plot. It was so obvious he was trying to free himself and any contact on the other player was accidental. Glad they came to the same conclusion. I was ready to bin the whole thing off right there.

So two(ish) out of three ain't bad I guess.

They said on tv that they didn’t count the new phase of play as the ball had only “barely” left the penalty area. Since when did “barely” not count?? Terrible decision.

Also even our own fans were giving Duran stick for his incident which I felt was really harsh because he was being dragged all over the place by two players and struggling free. VAR seemed to acknowledge this but still then gave a yellow.

Was genuinely dumbstruck re the handball and Ollie’s penalty.

I actually feel like officials tonight felt like that we’d had the rub of the green too much recently and wanted to make amends.

Been great for us in the past few seasons but probably a bit too limited for the way Emery wants to play. Actually think Konsa is a better right back with how we play, whether that’s against a low block or one of the top teams.

Yeah. I was surprised he didn’t play Konsa RB with Carlos and Lenglet in the middle. I guess we’ll see that against United.

Thought he played well, a very able cover and someone who would be great as a squad option.

Yeah we need to try and keep him for the second half of the season. Hopefully we have some control in that and there isn’t a Jan recall option.

As he lifts his foot back to start his shot, the Palace player clipped his foot. So when he starts his swing it isn't starting from where he thought it was, hence the air shot. It wasn't deliberate contact by the palace player but it 100% happened and causes the air shot.

I believe you but I watched it 3 times and still can’t see it 😂

Klopp having a go at his own fans after the game last night. Difficult to think of a manager who’s taken such a nose dive in terms of being Mr Nice guy, funny and reasonable to someone who just comes across like a bell every time he opens his mouth.

Not sure but I feel like something happened to his father a few years ago and he’s been increasingly horrible ever since.

They’ve got Arsenal at the weekend, he needs them fired up.

Pau is out injured for Friday according to Doug’s live twitch tonight so I’ve seen

So we’re missing Pau, Tielemans and Kamara?

Lineup maybe- Martinez, Cash/Konsa, Carlos, Lenglet, Digne/Moreno, McGinn, Luiz, Dendonker, Ramsey, Bailey, Watkins.

Seems we should still be able to put out a decent enough side but bench options will be weaker.

Risky though isn’t it? We could just as easily not qualify for champs league and then what would we have? Do you not think something is up? If a mod can tell me that they aren’t concerned then I’ll be happy…

What do you think is up?  Surely the simplest explanation is the easiest one. Purslow really wanted this and pushed for it. Heck comes in and looks at the practicalities and the problems that have not been overcome (transport) and decided against it.

Never saw why it would. The work Villa would have to do is relatively minor compared to some of the stadiums part of the bid (Casement Park is literally derelict)

Do you know what, I’m coming round to the idea of keeping the capacity as it is (for now) as long as they face lift what they have eg improve concourses, toilets, replace the faded claret seating spelling out The Holte End. Just some investment on the existing stuff would be a start.

It makes sense - we have a good season this year, closing a stand and losing both revenue and as he said fortress VP makes no sense - we can add 10k seats but we aren’t doing transport, car park etc.  So we lose fans during 2 years, then it’s a pot mess when it’s open - I agree with this

Yes, I couldn’t argue with some of it. Will be a shame if we lose out on the Euros tho.

I presume we’ll be seeing a lot of that next year. On what I don’t know, memorabilia maybe, or around the ground, general marketing stuff. As long as it’s not the new badge, it’s ok (but Chris, if you’re reading, the font isn’t particularly clear and at first glance it looks like a dodgy Chinese symbols tattoo).
