Genuinely think people let the fact he’s an academy product cloud their judgement.
If Zaniolo or Diaby had put that performance in today there’d be uproar
People have been rightly saying he has been below par, bad even, since returning from injury. Today he was v good, not perfect but finally recognisable as the player of last season.

I've seen that exact game probably 25 times at Villa Park. I could count on 1 hand the number of times they've deserved to win and I'm **** sick of it.
Also this.

Just got in.
Gutted. Water is wet, United beat Villa.
But! We played well, I’m absolutely taking it as a positive, a massive one.
I thought JJ is showing signs of his old self , a really encouraging performance from him.
After Wednesday, I didn’t think that line up had a decent performance in them but I was pleasantly surprised.I thought the fans were on form and stuck with the team.
I said it before the match and I’ll say it again. This is not season defining and our season has not ended. We had a poor run this time last year and we turned it around. We’ll go on a good run again before the season is out.

The season will not end if we lose this game.

I had the misfortune of standing in front of one of the most miserable gits ever v Chelsea. Every word out of his gob was either F or negative
For once, I sat in front of the most optimistic, positive Villa fan ever on Wednesday. In the second half, at 3-0 down, he kept saying “I don’t know why people are leaving, one goal were right back in this” and “this is a good game this”. He just got sadly more quiet as the game went on then towards the end he piped up “win on Sunday, we’ll all forget this”.
Fair play that man (and he’s right about the last bit).

Apparently Villa abstained at the PL meeting yesterday, the other was Crystal Palace.
Seen this. Was trying to work out purpose of abstaining. I guess maybe we’d be able to make it work in our favour if the vote wasn’t passed but don’t want to get on the wrong side of the others and vote against it.

I think some on twitter were speculating damage to his MCL because of the way he slid onto the post.
No there’s been a flurry of new panic today for some reason. No idea why but I’m hoping it’s rubbish.

That lung was ridiculous near the end. Luckily ref just played advantage and forgot about it.
As said above needlessly getting sent off would've been indefensible given the injuries we have at CB.
Yeah, as much as the ref seemed against us yesterday, if he’d have given Carlos a second yellow, I couldn’t have complained.

Just realised he’s going to miss probably at least one of our conference league round of 16 fixtures too. It’s a really busy period that this injury is covering.
-
People need to watch this press conference. Very inspiring man in a very serious mood.

4 weeks is 5th March so will miss Chelsea, United, Forest, Fulham and Luton. Hopefully back for Spurs on 12th March which would be massive?

He was literally shouting in pain when he was down injured.
Yeah, he looked in a lot of pain but seemed to recover. He’ll clearly be out for a bit, we just need to adapt and hope it’s not too long.

As the chant used to go, F**K um off get Into um. F**k um off get into um
I swear to god it was “come on the Villa, get into em”. I may have been young and naive then though. I miss that chant, I was thinking about it the other day.

He’s had dogs abuse recently, so I hope the fans get behind him. He has been the weakest link this season but even so, always conducts himself well and has been a good player for us overall.
Im dreading the first mistake he makes because fans are just going to get on his back instantly which will only play into opposition hands.
If I remember rightly he had a really good game v Chelsea.

It’s not just his ability, it’s his leadership and confidence. I think it will be Carlos who has to take over duties of leading the back line and keeping them organised.
-
I think we’d more likely move Kamara to CB than play a rusty chambers but our CB injury situation has been ridiculous this season.

I’m enjoying the fact that they did a whole segment trashing Flekken and he’s playing a blinder.
-
If he is out for a few weeks, Cash back in at RB, Lenglet and Carlos to continue centrally and hopefully Pau coming back soon. It definitely weakens us but there are teams that we should still be able to get past without him.
Here’s hoping it’s just a knock and he’s back for the United game (we are never this lucky).

Have we ever had a player go for a injury scan and come back with good news?

Liverpool have been crap today.

Got a sneaky feeling we could see a penalty shootout.
