I want him to be fit for Luton first and foremost. Take every game as it comes, every game is important and Luton away is a tough ask.

Yes it is and in an ideal world we would be able to play him in Luton and Spurs and rest him v Ajax away but given that Chambers isn’t registered to play in the Conference league and Konsa and Carlos are out, if he aggravates a niggle v Luton, we’re left with Lenglet playing on his own next Thursday.  I don’t know what the right answer is, hopefully he’ll be fit for all the games.

  2. On the one hand v good news. On the other hand, we haven’t registered chambers for the conference league squad so don’t really want us risking him if it would put him out for the Ajax and Spurs fixtures.

There is no way the season is actually going to finish in mid may. It will be in the law courts in the summer

I am so glad we are absolutely nowhere near it.

No able to watch this, does anyone here think we could have beaten either teams if we had got to the final?

Hard to say. Neither team playing badly. Hard fought competitive game. The only thing that I would be certain of is that it would not be 0-0.

with the extra 5th spot being heavily reliant on teams' performances in europe, imagine this scenario:

we finish 5th and make the final of the conference league. england are just behind germany in the coefficient for the 5th CL spot

only by us winning the conference league would give england that 5th spot and enable us to qualify for the CL

I’ve been thinking that, that we could simultaneously win the conference league and get CL football by securing the extra English spot, all in that one match. It’s quite a realistic scenario.

Just wondering, do season ticket holders get to buy whatever seats are free before the general sale is open? Or are there only certain areas that are available? I'm looking to get Wolves tickets but I'm coming from Canada. Potentially have a friend's partner who is a season ticket holder, that I may ask to grab me a pair. It's been so long since I've been to Villa Park and last time was a pre season friendly against Fiorentina!

Yes they do. Tickets will go on sale to members first and then a few days later for STH to buy extras. Looking at the dates they gave out at the beginning of the season, the tickets should be available for members on 4th March and for STHs on 11th March.

What I will say is that I would guess that this is a fixture that may sell out to members and might not get to STH extras.

I was thinking perhaps we could take over the Alexander Stadium site, then build an equivalent-sized athletics venue where Villa Park is.  There must have been a lot of infrastructure work done for the Commonwealth Games and lots of room to build a 50k-60k stadium there.  Buy the land off the council (I assume they own it?), sell VP at a discount in return.

Much of the infrastructure was temporary. Spectators were shuttle bussed in. There’s is even less parking near there and only one small train station. Not saying it is impossible but I’m not convinced it would be a good location for a 50k stadium or at least not significantly better than where we are now.

Spurs sandwiched between those ECL fixtures are really going to screw us over.

We kept thinking that during the group stages and still managed to get good results in the weekend games. Finger crossed for a favourable draw.

Have apparently put Ashworth on gardening leave as he wants to join Man United

Could be quite the money spinner for Newcastle. It’ll be a case of who blinks first whether United pay up. Newcastle willing to leave him on gardening leave for 2 years is unlikely but United are going to have to pay up a decent amount.

He sounds like a right slippery git, will fit right in in Manchester.

  10. Thought MOTD was fine other than putting the Chelsea/city game on early ish which was dull and had been on TNT only a few hours previously.

We’re going to have to be the late showing sometimes and to be fair to Danny Murphy, he focused on our injuries and said how well the back line did given that they had to be thrown together and was featuring two left footers.
