The interesting thing in his interview isn't the clown comment its the accusation that he's being treated differently to other managers

Expect the FA to want an explanation

And I hope villa give them a very well thought out comprehensive one detailing how shit they all are

Yes I picked up on this and wanted to know more. He clearly thinks we are not treated fairly but I’m surprised he thought it was personal to him.

Possibly because he comes across as such a nice guy, which I bet he is. So maybe this will turn out to be a good thing if the officials realise he is not such a pushover and will be noisier about decisions that don’t go our way.

what happens to him re the red?

  2. Traore is in some of the Ross Barkley pics.

But I agree that the training pics don’t really give a true indication of who is at what stage of recovery (other than who is now testing negative) and whether they would be able to play a competitive match tomorrow. I imagine there will be a lot of assessment during these sessions.

Milik in. Sanson out for Marseille. They need the money according to the journalist who broke the story.

By the badly translated remarks from the Marseille fans in that Twitter thread, he had a stinker of a game at the weekend.

They’ve just been talking about this rumour on TalkSPORT and their transfer journo says he called someone he knows ‘close’ to Villa and they didn’t give him any info, therefore he’s deduced it must be happening or we’d deny it. Outstanding journalism, I hope he gets paid well for that.

  4. Literally the only advantage we have going into this match is that City (hopefully) won’t know who is affected and who will be fit. That said, footballers talk and they probably know who our positives were already.

I'm not sure what that means but I'm living in Indonesia recovering from covid and haven't drank any alcohol in over a month. What did you mean by that last part?

I think he just meant that you both have alcohol related user names and he gets you mixed up.

Mings clearly let Bamford and Zaha get into his head.

I think, if we got a big offer from a Man U or similar i.e. £40m - £50m, I would definitely sell Mings and re-invest, knowing that Hause, from what we have seen over the past month, is a more than adequate immediate replacement.

Our starting defence has been fantastic this season, we’d be mad to sell any of them. Strengthen further yes in case of injury or to provide competition but keep them all.

We are not getting players of his calibre at £30m without some luggage.

£30m is a lot of money. But it isn't a lot of money for a players these days.

We paid £20m for a keeper that was warming the bench for Arsenal and £28m for a Championship striker. Barkley for £30m or thereabout doesn't seem like miles away his true market value in my opinion. If his injury record were better I would think even higher. McGinn broke his leg last season. Doesn't meen we would accept £20m for him.

I tend to agree. I would be gutted if we decided against buying him after he seems to fit in so well here and then watch him have a fantastic injury free season elsewhere. That said, I’m happy to wait until the end of the season to make a final decision (although if he stays injury free and plays brilliantly for the rest of the season his price may rocket).

  8. Apparently we didn’t officially request the Spurs game be postponed until Saturday which is why Fulham are spitting feathers because it led to their late notice about their rearrangement. It is probably why we are putting in an early request re the Everton game.

  9. Spurs can be thanking their lucky stars it didn’t happen to them given the behaviour of their players over Christmas. They absolutely don’t get to take the moral high ground.

Tonight’s fixture will go ahead of it can because there will be no space to rearrange FA cup fixtures and we will want the tv money. I would fully expect us to be treated the same as Newcastle and Man City by the PL and the Spurs game postponed, not sure about Everton.

The way I see it is Purslow would not have been waxing lyrical about DL on national radio unless he was pretty confident of us keeping hold of him.

Either that or he took a big chance in opening himself up to the buyback clause question. Luckily Jim Whites a shitter.

I was quite surprised CP raved about him so much given what we have been told re buy back clause. I listened thinking “shuussshh!! . I now choose to think that a permanent deal is in the bag 🤞

Could have done with Mcginn, Jack and Targett getting booked v Man U and the suspension out the way.

Yellow card suspensions don’t transfer between competitions so if they’d have got booked at utd, they’d be out for Spurs.

However red cards do transfer to domestic competitions so Matt Doherty will miss the Brentford game for Spurs and not the game against us.

  12. Yes, he will want to forget his last couple of matches but we are doing so well and have transformed ourselves defensively. Mings is a massive part of that and has been largely excellent this season yet people are falling over themselves to have a pop at him. Criticism on here tends to be reasonably calm and rational (match threads aside) albeit not always accurate but other social media platforms can be vile.

What worries me is that he strikes me as a confidence player who will be well aware of the change in feeling for him. A Mings lacking confidence is not good for us. I don’t know why our own supporters can be so horrible to our players. How is it ever going to positively impact the confidence and spirit of the team which is so important in achieving success. We need to be with them not against them.

Unless there's a release clause in his contract that we have no idea about then I'm extremely confident of Grealish going nowhere.

Just signed a fat new 5 year deal, will cost at the very least £100m and most importantly we're not some relegation fodder club now. Look at how quickly the club has improved, as long as we don't absolutely shit ourselves we should finish top half and even possibly knock on the door for Europe. That means a few more top quality players in, we'll improve yet again and so on.

We managed to keep him last summer so right now I'm not worried in the slightest regarding his future.

It’s nice you’re confident but I think you’re naive unfortunately. We are building something but I don’t think we can do it at the pace he would want. There has been no proper test of either ours or his resolve with a mega bid from a Champions League club yet. I would be amazed if one didn’t come in the summer. Pogba will leave Utd for big bucks and then they will have the finances and the hole in the squad to push for him. If he has a good Euros, he’ll be one of the most sought after players in Europe, which he probably is already.

If we finish 6th-10th, it would be a great season for us after last season but would it be enough to persuade him to stay if a CL club put in a massive bid? I think we’ll have a battle on our hands but our owners are fantastic and will be well up for it.

Well the 'logic' is that neither of those three are any good. Trez is the best by far in terms of balancing us and defensive work. AEG seems to get goals, but little else. Traore is a just a **** of a RW.

We need a proper quality right winger who can go on the outside, find Watkins, finish well and work home. Ideally someone with pace. We don't have it.

Agree. This is the side we get exposed time and time again. Trez helps out with the defending but his finishing is lacking, Traore can finish but leaves poor Cash run ragged. They’re fine for the squad, but we need a complete package of a player to be a regular starter. I really don’t think this will be window to do it. Other priorities are another striker and cover/competition for Targett.

    🤷🏻‍♂️

I couldn’t believe it when he said that completely seriously and am surprised not many people have picked up on it, it was ridiculous. Obviously Andy Cole agreed with him.

Man United have *never* lost a PL game at home when they've been leading at half time? Is that true? In nearly 30 years? That's an incredible stat.

Is this well known? It’s mental! Don’t see us being the team to change it either unfortunately.
