I’m starting to care less whether he signs the contract, when he’s good he’s excellent but can be poor. There’s got to be more consistent midfielders out there.
-
Cou on the bench, Sanson in for McGinn. IF, big if, we sign him by Thursday, poss Digne straight in to replace Targett.

McGinn suspended for us, I think McTominay and AWB suspended for them. McGinn a big miss for us but McTominay will be for them. They are bringing back Ronaldo, Maguire and Jones. We might, fingers crossed, have a couple of new signings in the squad.
I hope that the crowd harness all the anger re the disallowed goal and the excitement re Coutinho and make the atmosphere really intense. Saturday evening under the lights, I’m going and I can’t wait.

Apparently Newcastle trying to hijack the deal. Some foreign journo on Twitter says. No idea how reliable.

Blimey if you thought he was really poor you must have a high level, who was your MOTM out of interest?
Buendia for the first 60, McGinn for the last 35 for his battling and determination. Thought Buendia was brilliant though. I’m starting to really like him. I should add that I’m a Ramsey fan too but thought he was poor today. Targett had a terrible first half.

Best player on the pitch for me, technically he’s our best player imo. Well get even better with better footballers around him.
I just had to check I was in the right thread. Really?? I thought he was really poor.

Tricky decision to make on Saturday whether to play Watkins or Ings.
Both have different positive points, very hard to pick the best player.I think he’ll name an unchanged team, Coutinho has barely played recently, he’ll come on as a sub.
Unless we’ve signed Digne by then in which case, he’ll go straight in.- 1

I thought that was the best we’ve seen Ings and Watkins play together.

Ings and Watkins worked!

I wasn’t sure this was a good signing. I’m now completely convinced.

Just Ramsey and Targett.

Targett has a goal and 2 assists in the league this seaeand Digne has none. Targett has played a couple of games more
Don’t say that, I’m trying to convince myself this signing is good value.
Maybe he would have had more assists if DCL had been fit?

Given that Digne is better going forward and Targett better defending, we might utilise them both throughout the season depending on the opposition or the need at a particular stage of the game. Like we have a squad that we can use tactically or something.

Anyone else get the feeling we’re splashing the cash up front, not convinced it will be as easy to beat NUFC to targets in the summer (if they stay up). Thinking how City did for the Lerner dream of Champs League.
Think we’re trying to give ourselves a head start but even if Newcastle do stay up, surely there are only so players they can buy, there are a lot out there and both squads will have different needs.

I'm a bit concerned about digne, not the player exactly but rather the profile. What happened to young, hungry with plenty of scope for improvement?
I'll forgive Coutinho as he's a special case maybe even ings too, but any more and this becomes the norm.
We are in danger of becoming Everton
One glance at their forum says they agree with you too, buying big name players who wouldn’t really want to join us. I worry you might be right but we have no control over it so I’m just going to hope for the best.

This guy is a fraud. Outed on so many occasions but keeps changing his name.
Ah, didn’t realise.

Well I wasn’t keen but no other choice but to back him now!

That’s a reasonable draw. Good incentive.

He’s been bang average for 18 months now, would steer well clear of him.
I’m not thrilled by him either. He’s never stood out whenever I’ve watched him. Think he will be expensive for only a small upgrade on what we have.

If West Ham want him and are willing to pay, he’ll go there I would imagine.

I've just looked on the tranfer thread on a newcastle forum, and they're acting as if the £17m rumoured fee for Wood is crazy money, that seems relatively cheap to me, would have expected Burnley to want more than that at the best of times, but even more so if Newcastle are the buyers.
I hope Burnley mess them about the entire window and then decline their offer. Why would they sell to their relegation rivals especially with Cornet at Afcon?

We know this though? Isn’t it Everton we have to find an agreement with now?
