If there's anything for the Premier League clubs to come together on hopefully it's to take it in turns pinching Newcastle's targets (Let them sign the Joelinton's for £40m mind) for the rest of eternity
United would be incredibly short sighted to loan them Lingard to help them survive. There’s a bigger picture here…send them down!

you could do with a decent start to calm the place down. Won’t take long for them to direct their bitterness an anger at their players if villa take the lead.
We’re not very good at this bit.

I am confused by this too. There's no reason we could not have organised the game for that weekend.
Ah, ignore me. Just remembered the international break. We’d be without Martinez, Buendia and Countinho.

With Burnley and Leeds out of the FA cup, why are we not playing one of our postponed games next weekend?

Is this one still on the cards? Wasn’t the last thing said about it that he was in no rush to leave Brighton? I would guess although Brighton would rather sell him to us for big bucks this window, he’d rather wait for a CL team to come in for him in the summer. Might not even stay in PL if he wants a fresh start after his investigation if it’s resolved by then.
I keep seeing this as a hot thread but with no new developments, feel like I’m missing something.

Anyone know when our deal with Cazoo is up? With all these big name links with massive social media followings including Gerrard himself, I think we are in a prime position to get a much more profitable shirt sponsor deal. Would be nice if it was in time for next season but that would depend on Cazoo only being 2 years.

Just a word of warning in regards to Ferguson in charge as caretaker. Last time he was caretaker for 3 Premier League fixtures:
Everton 3-1 Chelsea (first game in charge)
Manchester United 1-1 Everton
Everton 0-0 Arsenal
After a disappointing run of results for us, it’s important to win this one but we would be stupid to underestimate them. They comfortably beat Arsenal only a a few games ago and they will be lifted by getting rid of Rafa.

Different league of course, but I'm confident his shooting and movement would put Watkins and Ings to shame.
I think if he comes in the summer it’s because both Watkins and Ings aren’t here.

I generally don't like the move we've made in our last three major signings clearly just been named by Purslow or the manager and not coming through the recruitment team. I hope it's not too frequent, it's asking for trouble.
What's good is I think Gerrard is too sensible to do it long-term.
Danny Ings was random. Countinho was commercial and I think we’ve done a good deal with the reduced wages, loan audition period and option to buy -it’s low risk and Lucas Digne is a quality signing for a position we need to upgrade when an opportunity presented itself - I think the recruitment team would have been fully behind that one.
Ings was definitely the panic purchase made when the club was having a mini meltdown a week or so before the season started. However he’s far from a disaster and I still think he’ll get some important goals for us.

Ings looked really good when watkins wasnt in the team.
I’d also agree with this.

I think the lack of posts in this thread is quite telling (most of them are from me!). Did the total lack of fanfare not help his cause? We signed him completely out of the blue, it was shadowed by Grealish leaving, there was barely any coverage or him after he signed, he seems to generally avoid the media and he has unfortunately been totally anonymous on the pitch. It’s like he’s not even a Villa player.
He is quality so I’d hate for him to be written off so quickly but the fit just doesn’t seem to be there does it.
You’re last sentence sums up how things are at the moment.
He’s been talked about loads in other threads but everyone goes round in circles. We appear to have signed him in a panic over the Grealish departure with no real plan how to use him or if there was a plan it quickly became apparent it didn’t work unless Ollie was out. We’ve now got one of our highest earners either forced into the side to the detriment of both strikers or he sits on the bench. And it might have prompted Ollie to think about moving (although if rumours are true Arsenal are interested, I think he’d look to leave anyway and we’d accept a bumper fee).
I like Danny Ings and I hope the move works out for him but I don’t think we play enough games to keep all our strikers happy (I mean what’s the plan with Cameron Archer?) and I kind of agree that noises re a Suarez summer move would suggest that one of them is on the move in the summer and I would suspect that would be Ings.

If this is happening, I feel like the club has taken leave of its senses.
We are not short of forwards, we need to stop conceding. This is honestly nuts.

This is turning out to be the most mental transfer window ever. I don’t even know what to think about this one.

This has to be crap but the guy has 300k followers!

I for one would be gutted if we sold him. I think he’s brilliant and would be gutted to watch him pull on a United shirt and celebrate with United fans.

Birmingham Mail:
Steven Gerrard has provided an update on the injury where he stated: "He's had a real severe whack on his hip and in a real uncomfortable area right on the bone.
"He really tried his best to carry on, fair play to him, he is a warrior Ez, but unfortunately we gave him some medicine at half-time to try and help with the pain but, unfortunately, he couldn't carry on.
We've done the right thing to get some treatment into him and, hopefully, he pulls through for the next game."
Axel Tuanzebe has recently cut his loan spell at the club short in favour of a move to Napoli, therefore leaving Villa with just Hause in the form of centre-back options. An injury to Konsa would mean Hause would be promoted to the starting line-up, leaving the likes of Lamare Bogarde or Josh Feeney as the next options off the bench.
If the injury is severe enough to miss several games, Villa will likely have to prioritise bringing in a centre-back before the end of the transfer window.

I had a guy in front of me yesterday, must have been 75+ years old, absolutely howling profanities for 70ish minutes every time Mings passed even sideways.
Was baffling. If there's nothing on there's nothing on!
Lower Trinity? There was one bloke, I thought he was going to explode when another sideways pass was played.

Was a lot quieter at the start today than I was expecting. A later kick off, under the lights, after Monday's debacle. Was pretty subdued other than some half hearted booing of Utd when they came out and their early passes.
Obviously their early goal and our general lack of possession sucked away what little enthusiasm there was.
Obviously much better second half and electric when we equalised but I was suprised by the early atmosphere.
I thought it started quite lively but the early goal and poor performance killed it. The more we got back into the game, the better the atmosphere got and it was great when we were all over them. The players are feeding the atmosphere but the fans need to feed the players when they are lacklustre.
Also our song variety isn’t great.

If we manage to get the fabled CDM spot sorted out then I think that there’s a possibility that Morgan replaces Dougie.
I could see that happening.

Do we have to register the covid compliance for this one? Don't think I have received an email on this match.
Not if you’ve done it before. However you do need your Covid pass/proof of negative lateral flow.

As you say, we should not live in the past but also cannot live in the future either, otherwise we not only lose sight of where we’ve come from, but we also lose many of the things that make this club so great. We need to acknowledge the past, respect the past and all the heroes who played their role, because that’s ultimately what will drive us into the future.
This bit sounds like it was lifted directly from the script of Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure.

Man City. Agree he was decent although they should have had more yellows.

Given how the Wham song went down at the Theatre of Doom on Monday, I think that one will stick, it’s not difficult to remember after numerous beers either, trust me.
It’ll stick unless Coutinho struggles and Jack finds form.
I don’t like it anyway.
January Transfer Window - 2022

Not even then, not this window. If they survive, clubs can bleed them dry in the summer, until then aim for their relegation.
