You clearly hold social media in higher regard than I do. I am naturally critical of unsubstantiated material - sign of old age I guess.

I don’t take it too seriously but there’s some truth amongst the dross.

He did call Stevie G as manager quite early so I withdraw my earlier comment

Tbf, Twitter sounding more and more vague about this one. Definitely could see it failing for whatever reason. Plan C then…

True, but not sure many of those are willing to pay a fee. If it takes £15m this window, maybe we can steal a march?

One things for sure (he says), we’ll sign a DM this window and I think it might go down to the wire. Expecting it to be one of Bissouma, Kamara or Bentancur.

    Or, and here’s a crazy idea, we’ll sign 2!

I think maybe this is what Gerrard meant when he said about getting “creative” if we couldn’t sign a CB…looking at a quality midfielder that can also play CB would be shrewd.

I imagine the sun will love a £100m flop, the problem will be that it will come with a claim that he was never really that good anyway

And that will piss me off because he was, he was brilliant for us but with the way English football is that will all be swept under the carpet because we're Aston Villa

His failure at city will have a belittling of us tacked on to it

Which is so infuriating as he is playing against the same teams. It’s not as if he’s moved leagues. He absolutely destroyed Liverpool and Arsenal last season, was sensational. That patronising ‘step up’ thing is such a load of rubbish because when he is given the ball now, he does nothing with it, barely even tries. It’s not the ‘step up’ that’s the problem it’s the fact that he doesn’t suit their system.
I think he will probably get a really vital goal or assist for them later this season and it will do his confidence and standing with his team mates the world of good and things will settle for him from there.

I wouldn’t be against him returning to Villa but it won’t be anytime soon. He will be very successful and we’re going to have give him a guard of honour last match of the season. Whether he enjoys his football as much, probably not, but it’s a small trade off for the success and massive wages.

I really like it when they interview two players together and you get to see how they interact and a bit of their personalities.

  6. If they’re going to blame the Villa players for celebrating the goal, they can also blame Duncan Ferguson for telling the Everton fans to make life as hard as possible for the Villa players.

Neither are to blame though, it’s the idiots who threw the bottles and them alone.

I still feel we're too soft at giving away goals. So I worry for us in every game now. We also can't play consistently for 90 mins. I can't see this team going on a run as we'll always shoot ourselves in the foot in a couple of games we dominate and just gift the opposition goals.

I can't figure out what way to play the front three. It'll probably be Ings Watkins Buendia again. If it was at home I could see Chuk starting with Watkins / Buendia. I doubt Coutinho is fit enough to start and he's best as an impact sub right now.

I can see this as a score draw today and more frustration for us.

All of this. Don’t understand why largely the same defence and midfield as last season can barely keep a clean sheet this season after record equalling amounts last year. I dare say it but I don’t think Emi or Konsa have been quite at last seasons levels.

Watkins and Buendia to score today.

  8. Well someone needs to tell Buendia he’s not playing (and also to stop playing fpl)…

Was a few days ago though but would suggest his shoulder isn’t bothering him.

I kind of feel bad for targett. He even subbed himself out of his fpl team.

I’ve seen this mentioned on Twitter. Poor Matt!
(although didn’t he get banned from FPL by Deano)

Yeah for all the good news coming out we need to start getting some actual results

I miss winning games. Feels like ages since we did. In fact it is ages since we did. Even longer since we kept a clean sheet.

Ian Wright has gone way down in my estimation with this load of crap....

“I saw some karma the other day guys with Emi Martinez and Bruno Fernandes. Bruno Fernandes’s weak shot went through Martinez’s legs. I though surely at some stage Fernandes was going to say something to him. Imagine now if Martinez pipes up when he’s trying to take a penalty, I’m going to say ‘get back on your line bro, and close your legs as well’,” Wright said.

    What a complete

    See the source image

I have no problem with what he said. Emi taunted Bruno over that penalty, I fully expected Bruno to give Emi some stick.

Hickey is not going to come here as back up when hes first choice in Italy.

Not saying you’re wrong but stranger things have happened, like Gerrard leaving SPL champions Rangers to come to 15th placed Aston Villa. The PL is a big pull as is being closer to home.
