  1. Re: promotion/relegation It’s the structure of the EFL that makes it hard for me to rationalize anyone being promoted or relegated. Every team plays every other home and away. It’s a balanced schedule for all. Cancelling the last 10 games takes away that balance.
  2. I’m no lawyer, but surely they couldn’t win that lawsuit? It’s a widespread public safety concern. The American collegiate athletics association (NCAA) have cancelled all of their tournaments until the fall. No champions at all. Not as large as the Prem, but a pretty massive deal in the States, especially with the Men’s basketball tournament
  3. I wasn’t sure where else to put this, but wanted to share. Minnesota United held a twitter giveaway this winter, and I won a Villa flag. Not just any flag, the freaking massive flag they hold on the pitch as the players walk out pre-match. After Villa played MN United in a friendly this past summer, they had the whole Villa squad sign it. It’s absolutely gigantic, so somewhat hard to find a spot for, but it’s a really cool piece to commemorate my first time seeing Villa in person.
  4. I think if we stay up and he earns an English squad spot this spring/summer, he might stay. If he does leave, I certainly can’t fault him for chasing the Champions League and international football during his prime years. He’s Villa through and through, and playing for another squad won’t change that. If he leaves, I’d like to see him leave England and go to a top side in the Bundesliga, La Liga, or Serie A. He’s my favorite ever Villa player, and it would be weird to be forced to cheer against him. I’d rather him go to a team that doesn’t play Villa so I can support Jack and Villa without any conflict of interest.
  5. Having our boys give it their all is the only thing I care about. It’s the only chance we have to win. If we give it everything and lose, so be it. At least we went down swinging. The only reason I’d be disappointed today is if we don’t give it a good go. I’d rather lose 10-0 and go down swinging than lose 4-1 with our tails between our legs for 90 minutes. Either way it doesn’t matter, because we’re going to win.
  6. I’ll agree with this. C’Ship was much more competitive top to bottom, every match was winnable by either side. The current Prem kinda sucks. I get no satisfaction from being the “best of the rest” trying to finish 7th and having nothing to show for it. Breaking into a European spot is possible, but the Prem simply isn’t a level playing field. The only perk for me is that being in the Prem makes it much easier for me to watch Villa in the States.
  7. Also, what’s the format for this match? If tied after 90 mins is there 30 mins of extra time, or do we go straight to pens?
  8. Jack scores a 90th Minute winner and runs straight up to grab the trophy with Deano, forcing the rest of the squad to defend extra time with only 10 men on the pitch and no manager. In all seriousness, 3-2 Villa. Because why the f*** not. Do you want to bet against us?
  9. Felt much more anxiety at last year’s playoff final than I have going into this match, but in my opinion this is one of the top 2 biggest matches since I started following Villa in 2013. 2015 FA Cup Final v Arsenal and this coming Sunday are the only two chances we’ve had to win real trophies. Winning the playoff last year was an unbelievable high, but finishing effectively 3rd in the Championship is nothing compared to winning a major domestic cup. Give it a strong go on Sunday and make us f****** proud to be Villa, lads.
  10. Listen fellas and ladies, it’s past midnight here in Minnesota and I’ve convinced my family to wake up with me to watch the 9 AM match tomorrow. Bought my old man and the wife Villa shirts, and we’ll be cheering loud and proud. Up the Villa, and we owe Bournemouth one. Bring back the 3 points
  11. Villa Park... such a magical and loud place. Good on everyone there for making their voices heard. I’m jealous of all of you who have been to VP. I can only dream of being there, for now. I have the wife on record saying we’re headed there for my 30th birthday. Only 4 years away.
  12. Of course it was Trez. Would’ve given Nyland a better chance to score before the match started. Doesn’t matter of course, UTV!
  13. How anyone can watch this match and think Maddison is better than Jack is beyond me
  14. Watching his footwork is mesmerizing and terrifying for me at the same time
  15. I’m a relatively new football fan (thank you all for accepting me), but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a ball ricochet off of the corner flag like that. Wasn’t sure what the ruling would be
  16. Does the away goal rule come into play tomorrow?
  17. This is the best thread on this website, and that’s saying something. Love hearing all of the old stories.
  18. I will never, ever understand how Leicester is pronounced “Lester.” It will always bug me, and for that completely rational reason I hate the Foxes. Throw the full might of Villa at them and let’s go back to Wembley for the 3rd straight season.
  19. Tuesday afternoon here in Minnesota. Found myself screaming alone at a bar while a bunch of Chelsea fans congratulated me. Up the bloody Villa, this is why we bother to care
  20. Saw that he wasn’t signed in time to play against Watford. What’s the cutoff time for that?
  21. Had one in Rome who was, understandably, a Roma supporter. The thing I found interesting was that in Rome I walked by a couple Roma stores, but also at least one Juve store.
  22. I tend to only follow whatever league Villa are in, but Stoke potentially being relegated to League 1 is mind blowing to me
  23. I’m watching at work and that one got an audible yell out of me nonetheless. What a goal
