Very encouraging.

If fitness levels don't dramatically improve next season then it will be difficult to make any progress. I hope they can.
Yeah. I think the Burnley game didn't help us in that respect.

A strong top 10/8 finish, ideally threatening the European places. Also stronger runs in the domestic cup competition with the aspirations of winning a domestic trophy. Further integration of some young players in the squad/first team too.

Thats a shock i never saw that coming
What a player cant believe we opted for ings ahead of him
I think we opted for Watkins instead imo.

He's one season into what I think is a six year contract. He'll get so much better as he becomes more suited to their system. He's more likely to win a Ballon D'or than he is to be binned off by Citeh, in my opinion.
He was brilliant for us, he got us £100,000,000 and (I think) we will (eventually) be better without him. Also, Buendia could be as good, again, my opinion.
I just don't understand the vitriol he receives. Its **** crazy.
I respect & understand your viewpoint. He shouldn't be abused IMO. He has my respect for his consistent performances on the pitch for us.
Do you honestly see him seeing that contract out at City? It is more than likely he will be a bit part player in my opinion, which will probably mean he is very successful by association - albeit on the fringes. I think he will struggle to be the "star-man" again, maybe that doesn't matter to him? I don't know. I can see him having some bad games, some indifferent and some good as he is rotated about at City in the coming seasons. If he does become that player you believe he is capable of being then fair play.
The truth is he is just another talented player at Man City. He will be replaced by the next one as soon as his services are no longer needed. I do think he has lost something leaving us, an intangible quality that money cannot buy or success cannot bring.
I am largely indifferent to him now - if/when he wins the title on Sunday, it will not make a jot of difference to me. The connection has gone. I won't feel anything. No happiness or ill will. I was buzzing when Albrighton won a league title with Leicester. A proper Villa fan who was badly treated by incompetent management. That was a person to be happy for. For Jack, he has tarnished his legacy here but I do not necessarily want him not to win the title.

It has been transitional and frustrating. Hopefully the pain of being in transition this season will make us better next season.
-
Grealish has been a poor signing by City thus far, even if he has the most remarkable game against us on Sunday. It won't change that truth. They brought him in to make them better in the Champions League - it did not have the desired effect. They won the league last season - so little progression has made in terms of additional trophies. Grealish has added nothing but a bit of cheesy/plastic celebrity to the cottage pie club. Jack was more than that to our club.
But considering he is Pep's development project at the ripe old age of 27 - maybe I am being too harsh.

City have basically won this game already.
We're playing 3 days after a match, they've had a week off.
We're always shit there.
They're magnitudes better than us.
They dearly want the win to guarantee a title.
They'll dominate from whistle to whistle, game'll be over by half time.

Burnley let us have the ball outside of the box knowing Pope would likely save any shots from out there. We was confined to high balls, crosses, in from the full backs, Burnley just defended them well.
We had the occasional long ball in on counters , which we eventually scored from.
Dreadful football really , especially with the players we have. Bertie had the best chance from a header for us , Pope pulled off a world class save but Ming's blocks a shot that was into an open goal as well.
We are so one dimensional and simple to play against , I can see a DM helping us defensively but we look clueless going forward, slow and devoid of any ideas.
It going to take a major turn around for us to improve next season and if I'm honest I see big holes in Gerrard and his back room teams ideas and tactics.
It's stick or bust time for us, my feeling is Gerrard will be gone by December.
We were fine going forward. Burnley just defended, defended and defended. It was with all their lives. Pope out of this world too. On another day that would have been 3-4 goals to us. It was a strong performance against a team in the situation of must not lose. We defended well against them, except for the 5-10 min spell when the goal came, we did not get a grip of the game by retaining the ball and moving higher up the pitch. Small details away from being a team who competes for higher places IMO. We just need fine tuning in attack and developing our game management. We would have lost that game a few months ago IMO.
I think you are wrong about Gerrard, I think by December we will be a better place and position overall. SG knows what the issues are and where we need to improve. We need to support him and give him space to build the team. UTV.

These are the games actually we need have wide players to stretch the opposition
The full backs are providing the width. That is not the major problem with our side imo.

He is very young, it is very important to remember that. It was a solid game from him, nothing more or less.

Deserves a special shout out, immense today !
Again..... Does anyone think it's a coincidence he looks better without Ezri every time?
Is it just a clash of playing styles or?
Too similar in styles? I think Mings is a good character. I wouldn't sell. I would try to phase him out with somebody better and give him the opportunity to raise his level.

I think he is unpredictable and unreliable. Not good traits.

He is the Aston Villa manager who came from Rangers. The truth.

Tony Pulis had Stoke about 8th and Sam had Bolton 6th. Doesn't mean its sustainable when play crap and get some results. I have seen nothing from performances i didn't see from Steve Bruce
Today we were home to Burnley not away to Chelsea or United
It was a strong performance against a highly motivated unit. Pope was exceptional. I think we tried to win and played in a style conducive to winning. SG balanced the team to be competitive in this match and hopefully against City. I enjoyed the game. You cannot compare with McLeish and Bruce - it is foolish. it is a hatchet job. You are better than that.
-
He is the heart and soul of the team. I think we will lose a lot if he was sold. Certainly more than his ability.

I am done. There are some that want Gerrard to fail at any cost, not willing to compromise on these takes and will happily see Villa suffer as a consequence - as long as their personal desires are met. You know who you are and you should be ashamed. I apologise to those who are unconvinced and want the best for the club, it is not directed at you. That is healthy. That is kind. That is fair.

We're 6 points off Wolves in 8th
Doesn't fit the narrative for those who have an agenda against Gerrard. We were good tonight but Pope was extraordinary. Disappointing the last two games, points wise. but we can still grow and get better. We will.

You'll probably want to go neutral and not read up on the Huddersfield fans attacking the Luton fans then.
Every single club has their share of idiot fans. Every. Single. Club.
Sounds like your excusing the assault on Sharp. This is far worst. Fans attacking players is far far worst. I know it is not all Forest fans but I think karma has to happen.

It is.
Have you seen that Sheffield United's Ollie McBurnie has been filmed allegedly stamping on a Forest fan who was on the floor last night?
No. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I saw the clip but I couldn't make out what was going on. The security is shocking. What is going on!?

I am rooting for Huddersfield because of the Billy Sharp incident. Disgusting.

How I would love that!
Yes really. I also wear a Villa top when playing football in the South West with a kind of tortured pride. I love the Villa. My mate's a Liverpool fan, now he enjoys being a Liverpool fan. In fact he said Liverpool were the best thing that ever happened to him. Villa are not the best thing to happen to me. It often feels the opposite.
Fair enough. I think we all feel like that at some point. It will pass. I trust NSWE to move us forward and create more happy memories. There is a lot to look forward to imo - I don't get the defeatist mentality, I do not like to read it too. It is a poor choice to be like that.

He looked okay-ish. Limited game time so it would not be fair to judge him on one game.
