Lets get back on topic. Show reels, show reels!
Thank you. He likes to hit diagonal passes - I like that. Our full backs bombing on to those passes forward.

We got to make an inadequate head coach look good some how - if that means spending £26m on a guy whose never played in the prem so be it.

The wages we may be paying to attract some of these guys plus Philippe does give some cause for concern. We have been burnt before. That the said, the professional way the club is run nowadays is unrecognisable from many of the regimes of the past.
We have to trust them. I do.
Same. I think there is substance behind our moves though. They have a clear commercial strategy that includes our academy, stadium expansion and the MLS franchise - and god knows what else. Exciting.

We mean business. For all the fear of Newcastle, is there anything they can do that we can’t within the parameters of FFP?
I am honestly not that worried about Newcastle as I believe NSWE are just as ambitions, if not more. There is room for both Newcastle and Villa to thrive.

What a surprise not mention of us 4 month ago.Yes. Very surprising.
The media/Sky Sports are not going to like us challenging their favourites over the next couple of seasons but there is nothing they can do about it.

TM has to use this disappointment to kick on with us. Use it as motivation. Prove Southgate wrong.

I'm still surprised he's signed for us over Atletico. Obviously we don't know the details of the offer, but we must have blew Atletico wage offer out of the water, and i'd imagine their is probably a release clause in there for a CL club.
We will be a Champions League club under NSWE imo. This is just the beginning of the journey for us.

He wouldn't sign for us I was told. Do not underestimate the Gerrard factor. We are going places.

This is the part of the equation some fans won't like, but it's simply the truth.
I've said that even if he fails for being " shite ", we'll have a better squad and higher profile,.stronger platform for " insert flavour of the month manager here " to proceed with.
Football is now a business, you have to be thinking along multiple facets on the path to " growth ".
It's the same reason you might see Eddie Ten Haag eventually leave, Newcastle, regardless of how well he does, to be replaced by a generic continental " Name "
In one sense you could say, at least we seem to try and keep a " British " spine?
I agree with a lot of that. I think you have to accept that is the way of modern football too. Certainly if you want to move forward. I think we are becoming a club that is thinking bigger. Gerrard is a young, up &coming coach who has a massive profile in the game. Fortunately, we have hugely ambitious owners with a grand project. It is a good match from a recruitment point of view.

Ollie has to be finishing one of those 1v1. He works ever so hard, I think he can progress further though and there is certainly scope for him to do so here.

Happy for Wesley. A bit of revenge for him.

Have we offered him a deal? Or are we nudging him out of the door?

Love Deano.
Players and talent win. Managers job is to be able to recruit as well. We would not be signing Coutinho, Kamara, Digne level players with Smith here… if Jack stayed maybe it would be a different story, but the writing was on the wall when Jack left and Dean was unable to get the Ward Prowse and ESR deals over the line.
Say what you want about Stevie but he’s got us shopping in a different talent bracket now. Whether he’s able to get results is one thing, but now we will have players that a top manager will want to manage. Gerrard is moving us up in profile.
Agreed. He is selling the NSWE vision better imo.

I can't be held responsible for Gerrard abducting Phil's family to force the move through!
It didn't seem logical did it really
You have got to believe in the Gerrard, the GOAT Purslow and the big letters NSWE.

Looking forward to seeing him hit some beautiful diagonals to Cash and Digne next season.
-
Good to see him score today. Oozes calmness and class. Be a huge benefit next season as we move up the league.
Oi @Pissflaps you told us he wasn't signing on a permanent deal!
-
Disgusting behaviour. What a scumbag.

He's a very good manager realising he's made the worst decision of his career. He's in the graveyard at 41.
He hasn't mate. You are overreacting a tad. Take a break from the forum for a bit, you will come back feeling better.

He will sort the mentality out, I have little doubts about it. Recruitment will be key in this, we have already seen signs of that. More to come. SG is a very determined person, he will not give up easily which gives me encouragement. I am 95 per cent confident we will move forward next season.
