Atletico Madrid wanted him didn't they. He'd be perfect for Chelsea so good thing Boely came in and signed half of europe instead for about two positions.
He'll be DM for France at next euros imo.
FFS! He is good enough for Aston Villa! He is part of our journey. Lets get behind our club, not fantasise about our players playing for shitty super league teams.

I'm so proud of our performance tonight. The commitment and energy of the players to dig in and get those points. Positive energy that Emery called for between teammates was evident.

He’s ****ing brilliant. Still can’t believe he plays for us.
The reality is he does. And we deserve this level of player. About bloody time too. Thanks NSWE. Class.

Poor signing all things considered. Glad he has gone.

Emery at his press conference said we wanted to sign a winger but only a "good" winger

Desperately trying to get Unai to say something to give him a negative headline about Emi in his French rag. Unai embarrassed him.
Unai was professional. It is all about the "now" and Aston Villa. I don't care about French grievances with Emi, it is in the past. He is a World Cup winner.

If Don Unai is here for a minimum of 5 /6 seasons then we will win the league title at least once.
I really hope so. Feels like he would have been the perfect appointment when MON walked. Could have been our Ranieri.

"We need to be good teammates" was one of his responses to "how are you going to change the mentality?".
It's very underrated, but very important it seems. I think it's one of the reasons Smith was so successful here, he really put an emphasis on this.
Smith lost five in a row and was fired in the end. Besides, we were very depend on one player during Smith's reign, I wouldn't call that being good teammates
Hopefully Emery's reign is a lot better than Smith's. But I do agree with him - that we need a team that fights for each other and believes in each other.

Maybe but before his red card he’d looked incredible
New player/club debut bounce? I think he is the Portuguese Stephen Ireland.

Straight red on his debut. This guy would have been a disaster here IMO - bad mentality.

So is the bit that says 'if we can do it we can add more players'. Looks like a sell to buy situation.
Yes. I suppose it is balancing the squad out too - not stockpiling and complying with FFP rules.

Best not to rush him back quickly.

Well that’s true after a good start. But shit per day the Purslow/Slippy G combo can’t be underestimated.
Well the Gerrard era is over now. Purslow obviously acknowledged his mistake. On the other hand, it is not far fetch to believe Lerner would have handed a new deal to Gerrard and appointed Carragher as his assistant.

We came 16th in 2005-06 in a very underachieving squad.
As for Sanson goodnight sweet prince. It's been emotional.
Exactly. I think that squad was capable of better but DOL was kept on too long under a selling Ellis, it turned poisonous and we massively underachieved that season (15/16).
Anyway. Sanson leaving is the right decision, why keep somebody who barely plays for us? There is more that meets the eye to this failure of a signing, I'm sure it will be revealed in time. Dean Smith had very high hopes for him, I remember Smith penning a letter and saying that he will be an exciting signing - Next thing we know, Sanson is flipping him off at the Emirates.

tbf, Lerner took us from mid table, to Europe, to the Championship
Myth. The two season prior to Lerner buying us we finished 10th and 6th - Lerner didn't add anything to our sporting achievement after spending a chunk of his wealth. The best manager of Lerner's reign wasn't even appointed by him
-
Lerner's tenure is the reason we still struggle today IMO, we are still recovering from it.

Gerrard and by association Purslow have done more damage in 12 months than Lerner did in years.
Nooo. No way. Don't say shite like that
- Lerner destroyed this club.
