Just off the top of my head, how about something like:

”He’s one of the Aston Villa fans like us,
one of the Aston Villa fans like ussssss,
Tim Iroegbunam is one of the Aston Villa fans as are we at the ground!”

Is this supposed to be done by that bloke on Twitter 😂

Silly. It is bad for young players to be milking a youth competition. He is well above and beyond that level.

    Young players aren't milking anything.

  3. Not just the three games he'll now miss, but there were 25 mins left plus stoppage time when he went, and it was 0-2 at that stage.

I know we were playing poorly that second half but I've seen us turn it on at VP plenty of times late on. Could certainly have got something with 11.

True.. if everyone else did it, we'd have been down to 0 players and the game would have defaulted to a 3-0 Spurs win and our GD would be better

    Superb... 🤣

Frustrating that we've had two reds this season and both were complete idiocy.

It's laughable ain't it. 'Raise your hands' like Kamara did, no matter how softly you touch someone, is a straight red. In that same game they let Tarkowski get away with flying through both Diaby and Moreno with 100x more force, risking injuring them and he gets away with them.

Clearly should be a yellow, clumsy but is going for the ball, that's where his determined face is focused and where his foot is aiming for, he's trying to put the ball out of play for a throw-in, to prevent an attack, even if he was purposely going for the man, which he was not, those tackles happen in every game, and the response is usually 'he took one for the team'.

Certainly not 'clearly a yellow'. He aggressively took out Udogie's leg with force. But the more I see it the more I do think it's more up for debate.

Spurs are well known throughout football for being Spursy.

Whereas a lot of football fans don't really remember our top 4 challenges or drop offs because they were so long ago. However Villa have been Typically Villa quite a few times over the years in my memory.

Most of us have seen Villa fall away when our hopes have been raised before in at least one season. So take your mind of this year it hasn't happened yet...... and cast your mind back to previous disappointments.

When did you realise we didn't have enough during a potentially good season?

    I'll start

1998/99 - we lost 4-1 at home to Coventry i knew it was all over then, i can still picture Boateng smashing the ball into the roof of the net and there fans going mental.

That was the 4th defeat in 5 games and we went on to finish 6th after being top at Christmas.

Think the Burnley game destroyed his confidence as he missed so many chances that day

Has looked a shadow since but Luton assist shows a player still there

Anyone can whip a ball in occasionally, I don't think that shows anything, but we do know from his early form here how good he can be. Right now, he looks like a little kid playing against men.

  9. With JJ out, I'm picking this guy to start over Diaby and Zaniolo every time for the foreseeable. Give him a run, let's see what he can do.

    Unai got this tactically wrong.

Playing 5 at the back when all season we have played a high line boggles the mind. You now have 1 more opportunity for spurs to beat that offside trap with 1 player in the defensive line not stepping out/keeping the line.

Doing so at home gave spuds exactly what they wanted: Our extra man was in the defensive line so they could press as they always do knowing there was 1 less attacker for the counter/long ball. Ange is not a tactical genius and his sides always play the same way.

That meant we effectively had Digne and Cash sitting deep, and no easy way to play out.

You can argue that it was working in the first half - but I would argue that a scoreless draw was the best result those tactics could produce. Zero attempts on target in the first 45 speaks to that.

You make some great points, but, if Bailey releases Tielemans, that's a goalscoring opportunity, and if Ollie releases Tielemans on the overlap, that's another goalscoring opportunity. So we could easily have had shots on target in the first half, and likely gone in ahead, if not for some poor (inexplicably poor in Bailey's case) decision making.

Yeah I agree, he widely swung at it missed what he was trying to do, was incredibly lucky to slice the ball with the top of his foot and then booted Ollie

It wasnt a case of Ollie would get the ball if he wasn't taken out, the tackle did take the ball away

But him touching the ball doesn't make it a good tackle, it was a bad tackle, I just don't think as the game is reffed now that's going to be given as a pen, we've seen worse ones not given (trez vs Brighton)

It's a pet peeve of mine. Tarkowski got away with two of them against us, Gibbs-White got away with two against United. 'Oh he got the ball' - what about the fact that the recipient could have had a horrific injury?

He did, he sliced it and was very very lucky but he did touch the ball

I'll need to see it again but he wiped Watkins out as well if I remember right. I don't care how much he got on the ball, if you wipe a player out it should be a foul.

He’s a loss but not so much of a loss that we play a completely different system and look inept while doing so.

We had two dangerous situations first half which could have turned into very dangerous goal scoring situations with some simple decision making.

We made the wrong decision with both. But one of those ends up a goal and it's a completely different story. Fine lines.

I don’t see how anyone would take away anything from the first half except, “Just got by.”

I’ve seen this team under Unai completely outplay champions league and title winners. We were absent two players (Kamara and Diego Carlos) from the team that faced City and Arsenal yet set the team up like wee were Sheffield playing the invincibles. It was completely mind boggling.

Title winners who played a midfield of Stones and Akanji. And Kamara is a monumental loss.

Yep, the pace of it all is what brings the red out.

In reality, he's clipped the blokes heel. But because he's going at speed, it looks worse than it was. It wasn't high, it wasn't reckless and I maintain it was a yellow and no more.

Clipped his heel while taking out his other leg yeah. He was the main one trying to drag us back into the game though, could sense his frustration and although I don't blame him for being frustrated, you can't do that. It is a one off though, he's not a dirty player.

One of his worse performances since joining, losing the ball for the 2nd killed the game off

He didn't lose the ball. He didn't have it under control and it was played to the side of him, not to him.

One of the best things about the football under Emery until now has been that we've taken the game to the opponent, no matter who they are, especially at home. This new pragmatic approach does not suit us at all. We're conceding for fun at the moment, so why not at least play to our strengths and try to outscore the opponent? Very disappointing to come so far only to suddenly lose faith in the style of play that got us here.

Tbf if we took advantage of the two very good situations we had first half it would likely be a different story

I just don't think he saw or heard him. Ollie was making a similar run the other side so was more in his eye line.

He was facing his way at first.
