Maybe we should let the transfer thingy go possibly. Guy was a class act for us and in my humble opinion is a Villa legend 👍🏻

365 league apps for us! Insane really.

His decision making is already better than Zaniolos. The idea might not come off all the time but it is the right idea. If he is our version of a project player that we feel 'might' turn into a very good player then i am all for it. Enough seen already to suggest that once he learns the Emery system he will be an asset.

Yep, always happy to release it early if it's the right play. Hard to teach.

but why do we keep getting linked with wingers, when we have 2 good ones on form.

Who's the other one who's on form?

Definite upgrade on traore. He has the same maverick ability but is more consistent, is better defensively and has end product.

Traore had better decision making (in the final third, not his own!) - e.g. that pass that Bailey never made VS Spurs to put Tielemans in, there's no way Traore wouldn't have made that.

I do think he's an upgrade overall though.

Honestly, I'd be more concerned about what Emery said afterwards... you don't often see players taken off for a hard-on :suspect:

I couldn't make out what he said there either 😂

  6. Another two assists! For his second, I thought McGinn was slow to get it to him, and he should have gone straight to Bailey himself, luckily he still had the space by the time Dougie found him.

Also loved his celebration from the corner when Ollie converted his ball in.

That puts him on 10 goals and 10 assists in all comps!

  7. Great finish.

Thought he could have done better with an opportunity first half though (the one which eventually ended with Bailey firing just wide). Found perfectly by Rogers, his touch took it away from goal, I reckon he could have been in straight on goal with a better directed touch to take him away from the defenders.

He is extremely raw, but also coupled with moments when you think  “ hang on a moment “

I would persevere for now tbh

I'd be amazed if we don't persevere. Potential is insane.

Honestly think he has been as good as Grealish was in a villa shirt this season and a lot more end product

Nah not quite. Grealish used to drag a poor team (19/20) to results by orchestrating attack after attack.

I don't see the potential. I think he's strong and powerful with a bullet shot, but that's it. I think he has poor positioning, poor instincts, quite clumsy, no finesse.

The comparison to Bertrand Traore is so wide of the mark. More Adama, and even then his dribbling is not even close.

I'm usually wrong and look forward to this post being quoted, but i don't see it and if we got an offer of what we paid I'd take it.

He didn't compare his style/ability with Bertrand Traore at all though.

You gotta love him. Ain’t getting no side foot placed finishes with this guy.

That's the thing though, he does those as well. But boy can he hit a ball, what a left foot.

Southgate already talking about can only take one more striker to Euros. Let’s see how much his ‘recent bias’ becomes a factor if he opts for Toney.

Even if Ollie wasn't better than Toney (which he is). Toney is very similar to Kane. Ollie would offer quality as well as something very different.

I think Buendia did okay but he's a creative player and Villa need someone like Kevin Richardson, who will win the ball in midfield and give it simple.

Creative players are usually trying to do something clever and lack defensive instincts, so they give the ball away, in the wrong part of the pitch.

Tielemans and Zaniolo are both guilty of this.

    Get Nakamba back then

Was more the first half against Luton where I saw glimpses of what he can bring. Second half of that game showed why he isn't ready to start for Villa week in week out yet but his clearly been bought for the long term to develop. Hopefully he will be given more minutes off the bench as I don't see the point bringing on Zaniolo on over him when its clear he won't be here next season.

Zaniolo was only signed as cover for Buendia, got his fair share of minutes at the start of the season and has still been underwhelming. Only realised yesterday he was suspended for the game tonight. Just looking at the minutes his played in the competition - his played 90 minutes twice but apart that his played 67, 21, 16,11 and 16. Getting three bookings already is pretty poor being honest.

I mean the booking he got last game was a disgrace of a call. Can't remember what the others were for.

He's being unfairly overhyped in his absence, which will only lead to unfair criticism if doens't live up to that hype upon on is return. Before injury he was in a similar position to Bailey, that is he had to prove this season that he was good enough for a top six side, so it shall be the case for next season

Don't think so. Think it's just the people that have always rated him being excited for his return.

Just off the top of my head, how about something like:

”He’s one of the Aston Villa fans like us,
one of the Aston Villa fans like ussssss,
Tim Iroegbunam is one of the Aston Villa fans as are we at the ground!”

Is this supposed to be done by that bloke on Twitter 😂
