The half he had v Forest as a CB was alright, that's far more of a game to judge him on than last night when he was on at 3-1 down and game over.

I say this in the nicest sense but hopefully he doesn't play a single more minute this season as that would mean all our defenders stay fit for the run in.

Does he still have another year left after this season? I'm not really sure why we gave a guy in his late 20s who was completely out of favour at Arsenal a three and a half year deal. A year less and we could just release him on a free in the summer.

I'm judging him on his time at Arsenal and all his time at us, not last night! He's not good enough, nowhere near.

He’s not superman. He would have been covering the other side if the goal like any keeper.

Watch it again. Olsen isn't that far from it.

We conceded 4 v Spurs with him in the backline so he's not an automatic clean sheet barometer.

People could say the same about Emi but that was easily Olsen's best game for us, saved what he could save well and caught the crosses no problem.

Problem was last night simply just having two CMs out there.

Emi would have saved the FK though.

I don’t know. It’s not the same city side and the fans and the players were getting nervous I sense. This was a must win game for them. They have difficult fixtures left and they need to win every single one to stand a chance.

City need to win every single game to stand a chance of winning the league? They're one point behind Arsenal and level with Liverpool (albeit Liverpool have one game in hand).

Let's be realistic here. Pau, as good as he is, wouldn't have made a whole lot of difference last night.

He always makes a huge difference with his calming presence and ability to start attacks.

How was he poor for the free kick ? He set up the wall to guard that part of the goal. He then has to trust those in the wall to do their job. They didn’t how can he be blamed for Zaniolo reacting like a small boy in his first game of football ?

Still very saveable, it was a weak strike.

He was terrible, let’s be honest.

Very promising player and I’m looking forward to him developing, but he’s not ready yet. Thankfully McGinn is back now

Read this in a Dutch accent (Grolsch advert).

To be fair, all of their goals were avoidable

We just didn't try hard enough.

There weren't any beautiful passages of play.  Fodens second was alright, but even Rodri got lucky when the ball bounced of X and into his path so he could lay it off to Foden.

I guess that means the secret is:  you make your own luck :)

Yeah, I wasn't able to catch the game in full last night - only the last 20. Watching the highlights now - that free-kick was absolutely pathetic to concede. Zaniolo had a shocker but I also think Olsen could have got there (someone else said this can't remember who). Such an average strike and we let it go in just before half time. Pathetic way to concede.

A couple of things I'd like to get off my chest.

A wall is designed to block an area of the goal, he was in the wall.

Phil Foden isn't aiming for what he thinks will be a hole in the wall, he's trying to go around the wall.

Zaniolo isn't jumping "out of the way", he's jumping and turning his back (which IS a mistake, just take a ball to the nuts/face), causing himself to "open up" a hole in the wall.

The free kick was shit really.  It was bollock high and going somewhere between Zaniolo and Konsa.  An awful effort in any other game, as it just bounces harmlessly away.

It was just unlucky, albeit if the hole doesn't open, its not a goal.

So he's at fault slightly, but that goal was pretty shit.

I also think Foden's third was a lucky strike. I mean he fell over as he hit it ffs. Really annoying to let him score those three goals.

He is basically a mix of Ramsey and Buendia. Without the defensive nous ( as yet) . Which is a great thing.

With more skill than both of them.

Agree, the intent was there. Does anyone know where his best position is though, we're using him from the left, I wasn't convinced that he was a left sided player when we signed him

    Right wing

Only once in our last 7 PL games have we won on xG. That was against Forest. Unlike the season up to that point where we were winning games on xG and on scoreboard

We will be found out soon if we don't improve our performances.

The Konsa goal was something like 0.07xG wasn't it? Ruling out how easy it would have been for Duran to tap in? That's why I can't take it seriously.

Not a great performance and mistake led to a goal but to be fair playing on average once every three months isn’t going to get the best out of anyone, need to part ways for both parties sake in the summer

When he plays regularly, he still makes mistakes. Passing is supposed to be his best attribute, yet he misplaces so many and always has. I'm sure he's a lovely guy, but he is rubbish at this level.

Duran getting subbed off tonight makes me think Ollie might not be ready for the weekend.

Dunno, Duran always gets subbed off

I wouid have thought so. Think Emery prioritising winnable games

Every game is winnable, should have started.

End of the day - good business decision by him. Not his fault we gave him these wages.

Trains reasonably well, shows up on match days, doesn’t make a fuss and is professional.

Everyone else is quiet quitting in the corporate world so I can’t really blame Chambers for doing the same.

Shows up as in literally shows up? Cos he certainly doesn't show up when he's on the pitch.
