  1. Catching up on Wednesday. Absolutely love it! It's a tad unoriginal with its teen-drama-at-Hogwarts-murder-mystery framework but they have put so much effort into it that it's just completely brilliantly watchable. Jenna Ortega is absolutely mesmerising as Wednesday. I hope they do a second series and take it somewhere a bit more original, but whatever, I'll definitely definitely be watching it.
  2. Not brilliant, not terrible. Buendia disappointing yet again. I just never see this brilliant player that some others do.

That looks amazing!!! And honestly, Grand Seikos look so much better in real life than in the photos. And the Spring Drive is a marvel of engineering.
  4. Lol, because our current Tory politicians never get away with doing bad things
  5. Merry Christmas all! Hope you all have fewer My Little Ponies in your houses than we now do...

There are also lots of videos on YouTube that explain the various pros and cons of all the watches (although you often find conflicting opinions of course). Hope you find the perfect watch.

I can just stare at this watch for ages... Everything about it is amazing. The spectacular reflections, the polishing, the way the dial changes colour from grey to champagne to white depending on how it catches the light, the smooth spring drive movement, and it's genuinely the shiniest thing I've ever owned by a mile.

I absolutely love my Grand Seiko spring drive. Well within your budget (around 5k at a standard watch shop) and as good a piece of engineering and artwork that you can get at that sort of price. Maybe something like a Skyflake model?
  9. A pretty underlooked song this one, as far as I know never released as a single. Seems very gentle and pristine on the surface but apparently the lyrics are about a man who died and got covered in snow and some children found him and started playing with him like a snowman, and possibly even might have broken him apart ... all very macabre and typically dark and weird. I like it though, it has such a nice melody.
  10. I wonder if they'll do anything with the fancy mosaic on the holte end? That definitely will be outdated (it already is to a degree anyway) Also, the awful illuminated signs on the Doug Ellis that appear to be an indistinct splodge of yellow and blue when viewed from the motorway will hopefully be improved too.
  11. I wondered about that. I don't remember seeing it anywhere else. Maybe that whole walk is a future phase?
  12. That new walk from the academy site to VP looks absolutely amazing, although they'll have to build a bridge over the river and a tunnel under the railway in order to extend the road. Quite a bit of work there! Of course, in real life, you'll still be walking down the back streets of Witton... No matter how many pendants they drape the streetlights with.
  13. I would say, "What a shambles." But let's be fair, this is just how it is going to be under his ownership. Can't believe he got such a high percentage of the vote to be honest. Seems to have attracted a lot of MAGA weirdos judging by the comments.
  14. Didn't even look to be in the box to me, certainly not when the contact started.
  15. After their hero-worshipping article on Lloris the other day I assumed the Guardian were just going to ignore Emi, but in fact they've proved me wrong: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/dec/17/emiliano-martinez-as-likely-as-lionel-messi-argentina-x-factor-world-cup
  16. Mastodon isn't complicated at all. You can join a server that nominally is for people with like-minded interests, and there is a feature to just see toots from that server only, but really you don't need to use that feature. The main feed shows all toots from all servers (unless they've been explicitly banned by your server's admin for some reason, for instance if they're distributing spam or illegal content). It basically works the exact same way as twitter - you join up and you see a timeline of your followers and anything boosted (retweeted) by them regardless of what server their accounts are hosted on. It honestly doesn't matter what server you join. You can just be safe and join mastodon.social which is the "main" original one. I've found it to be just as good as twitter, if not better in many ways. There are plenty of people on there now. The only thing missing imo is the "big" corporate accounts, like the BBC or the Guardian or whatever. So it isn't so useful as a news feed yet as Twitter is.
  17. You're probably right, it was a bit disappointing overall, especially after all the rave reviews. I think you're correct that Drax and Mantis don't really work when elevated from comic relief to main characters - I get why James Gunn did this and that it could have given them more depth, but ultimately it just reinforced their place in things as the comic relief sidekicks.
