Yeah, that stretch to the side of the Lakes really is awful. Whitehaven seems to have suffered some sort of extinction event about thirty years ago. Maybe a zombie virus outbreak or something?
Thing is, it gets better and better as it goes on. The first few episodes I was unsure of, it still seemed a bit "off" and a bit obvious. But every episode had managed to be an improvement on the previous one, almost as if the showrunners are deliberately trying to pivot the whole series away from what nu-trek has become back towards what it used to be.
Oh wow! That was just brilliant. Loved it. If this had been Picard S1 imagine what could have been...
There are too many things to talk about, I'd have about a million spoilers.
However, if I were to pick one....
I'll be watching it in half an hour or so, so haven't read the spoiler yet.
My expectations have been set very high with everything I've been reading so I hope I'm not let down!
Having said it's fantastic (and I do really like it) it does somewhat show up Tobias's limitations as a singer. Phil Collins is noticeabley more powerful and playful with the vocals than Tobias.
But I still like both versions (although probably I like the live Genesis version the most, with its extra energy and added guitar solo).
Interestingly, Google Bard did much better than ChatGPT on this one.
It's interesting that the three big players (ChatGPT, Bing and Bard) can offer wildly different answers.
Agreed. They are dragging it out a LOT and it's either just going to be the Borg, or it's going to be some really contrived way of getting a relatively obscure villain in again to continue the intricate fan-service that has suffused the show.
Still, at least it's still entertaining.
Two more episodes to go. Feels like they have a lot of story to fit into those episodes given that we still don't really know who the bad guys actually are.
It's been much better than I'd feared. There are still some things about it that grate (the overall aesthetics with the lens flare and ridiculously bright lighting throughout the shops whilst still somehow managing to be dark at the same time).
But looking past the stuff that feels out of place it's still really enjoyable. I'd like another series really now, albeit perhaps one that eases off on the grimdark revenge stuff.
Yeah, it's definitely that. He's decided presumably that they are the competition and will not allow them to be linked to.
I mean, if the whole internet took that view... There would be no internet.
Elon has now stopped links and embeds to Substack. Apparently replies and retweets to any tweet mentioning Substack are disabled.
The guy is completely out of control.
