    Ok, makes sense thanks. And of course there's the other elephant in the room that if it doesn't go into central London then nobody will use it from Brum anyway.

    I'm wondering if it will be of some benefit anyway. If the extra capacity is used for Birmingham to London commutes, doesn't that still free up the west coast main line for the London-Manchester services? Granted it's not what it was sold as, and most likely doesn't deliver exactly what people were expecting, but I expect it'll still help to some degree (albeit not 111ty bajillion dollars worth)

    Honestly, I don't really care that much about the interpretation of the rule, it's only there to stop goal hanging fundamentally. All I care about is that it's consistently applied and everyone can understand (within reason) the rules and that they don't keep changing the application every season.

    So you mean the Zaniolo offside one? As discussed earlier they have been very consistently allowing those goals this season so I don't agree that's a bad decision.

    Yes, and I'm actually ok with it as long as they are consistent. I'm just a bit surprised as I don't recall any official notification of a change of implementation of this rule.

    Have they changed the rules about offside players that don't touch the ball but are in the line of sight of the keeper? There have been a few goals lately (two for us) that I'm surprised have stood.

    Very impressed with his confident striding up the pitch with the ball and laying off a pinpoint perfect pass. Yes it leaves a gap at the back at times but on balance I think it's likely to be a net benefit for us.

    Want to give a shout out to Cash who I thought was excellent and dealt with Mitoma fantastically well. And Ramsey was just so composed and precise in his shirt time on the pitch. I'd almost forgotten just how good he is.
