  1. I disagree. As a professional sportsman, in the middle of the season, you should not go out on the piss. You can't have zero effect from being on the piss and/or staying out all night - it will impact you the next couple of days in training etc. If you want to be at your physical and mental peak, you have to miss out. Save it for when we've been promoted. I do agree about sorting out his mates though.
  2. I hope we've seen the end of the back 3 experiment and will firmly move back to the attack minded line-ups. I'd have taken a draw with the geordies before the game and the way we came back should start to rebuild the confidence. I'd keep Gestede to come on from the bench and hopefully we'll see McCormack and Jack back. Fully expect 2 wins this week and everything to start looking more optimistic.
  3. Was half watching a stream on my phone while doing something else and missed that the first goal was disallowed so thought we had won...sad times. Did have a few quid on the draw though so pain is mitigated somewhat. Need to use this to kick on now. Time for a win.
  4. Too defensive for me. We'll be missing McScore again. nervous about this one
  5. Nice piece on Codger in the Guardian. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/sep/22/jonathan-kodjia-ivory-coast-new-didier-drogba-aston-villa?CMP=share_btn_tw Sounds like a good lad and being a late starter should mean he'll come into his peak in the next couple of years.
  6. I'd be happy with that side. Maybe start with Cissokho for Amavi. I agree that we might find it easier against a more attacking team as long as we keep stretching them and don't sit back.

  8. Yes. He had provided the most chances in the league pre-injury and for the last game and a half since he's been out we've suddenly regressed as a team.
  9. Can you all get on with it and lose please. Looking forward to getting in on round 2.
  10. I hope we can sneak (another) draw this week, then have to target a couple of wins. Back to the attacking format. We can't afford to sit back. Newcastle will bombard us - particularly for the last 10 minutes - so we need to be set up to counter hard and fast and take advantage of them throwing everything forwards. Really no point in changing anything now. I don't have open-ended faith, and we have to get back to the swagger we had early on to show we are going in the right direction.
  11. I just hope we don't sit back - especially if we get ahead. Need to keep the pressure up their end of the pitch.
  12. From all out attack to all out defence...baby and bathwater, Roberto. I know it can be attacking but doesn't feel like it with defenders as the wide men.
  13. The bit I didn't understand is the bit where you give the 1st manager zero games playing his full new squad and the bit where you think it's a good idea to hand that new squad over to someone else and expect everything to suddenly be rosy. I'll ask again - how long would you give this new 'crack on' manager? Is 8 games your limit because we'd be outdoing Palermo with 6 changes in a season.
  14. Since our last signing joined we've had 2 games. Both draws. And yes, should have won both, but shit happens. We haven't even played everyone new yet. And that's as long as you want to give the manager? So how long does the next guy get...end of October? No - I know, let's get managers in on a game by game basis - winner stays on.
  15. One thing you can be sure of, he will get better and better now as the season goes on!
  16. Your autocorrect seems to have put in Richards by mistake.
  17. So no De Laet or McScore, but sounds like Tish will be back, probably Jack as well and Adomah on the bench. --------------------------Gollini----------------------- Bacuna---------Elphick-------Chester-------Amavi Ayew---------Jedinak---------Tshibola-----Grealish --------------Kodjia------------Gestede---------- Amavi, Adomah, and I'd rather ignore the rest.
  18. I reckon the only chance of a second year would be if we came 3rd, maybe 4th, and lost in the playoff final. Or get promoted...
  19. Hoping to solidify my mid-table mediocrity.. 20. I'm still OK with RDM. Yes - it really hurts to keep throwing away points in the last few minutes. Really hurts. And that's probably why some people are referring to the draws as losses. We've had a couple of poor games, but mostly we've looked pretty good, though don't have the points to show for it. That is to be expected for a team in transition. It may be 'ifs and buts', but without those last minute goals we would be top 4. We are so close, minutes away actually, from being really competitive. I understand the anger and frustration, and obviously results do need to improve, but calling for RDM's head now is crazy. If things don't look rosier my the end of the month I'll start to get more concerned.
  21. Another draw. Same old, same old.
  22. I think we need a couple of wins just to stop the bickering and sniping and get back to nice optimism.
