The one thing I would like to see over the next few games is more consistency in individual performances. Jedi has been pretty poor, but came good yesterday, but Codger was well off his game. Ayew blows hot and cold, as do most of them. Bacuna seems to have been the most consistently solid performer over the season. If we could get everyone on their game we'd be winning games, and winning well. I know it's early in Bruce's reign, but we still haven't seen a full team performance yet and while I'm happy with 8pts we've also got to be upping the goal difference soon and giving ourselves more than a single goal lead in games and that needs more of them to start firing at the same time.

Derby factor aside, an away point to a team in the playoff positions is not too bad. Keep up with the 4 in 6 rate - wins v Blackburn and Cardiff, draws v Brighton and Leeds and we'll be in a strong position in the run up to Christmas.

Think we'll win this one. Would love to see a 2-3 goal margin as well to really get us back on track.

I'm just not sure that even if he gets back into shape he's an asset. 11 goals in 80 games over the last few years just isn't good enough. Pace was his thing and that's not going to be there at 30 however ripped he is. There was never a poaching instinct, a good footballing brain etc, great positioning - those are the things that prolong a career when the legs start going.

Agree. What sort of message is it going to give to the youngsters on the fringes if they see Gabby not giving a shit for ages, flabbing up and then still given yet another chance ahead of them.

I liked him and think we could certainly get more from him in the right set up, with movement ahead of him etc, but we need more defensive / combative midfielders now, not Veretout.

Looking at the results across the league, apart from the geordies there are very few consistent runs of wins. We should be beating Cardiff and Blackburn. If we can also pull off results at either Blues or Brighton we will be well in the mix.

Well - I wasn't that keen on Bruce, but I certainly can't complain about the start he's had. It's fine, fine margins between wins and draws at the moment and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he has been the difference. I think there is plenty more to come from the squad and I hope he can channel the competitive juices of the attacking players to play for the team, not try to prove themselves individually as they are not all going to be playing all the time. It does feel a bit that they are all trying to justify selection by individual performance. Next up can we please start getting 2 and 3 goal leads to help my heart rate. Thanks.
